Did Touchstone Pictures ever thought of making Beaches II? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

My mom is a huge fan of the movie Beaches and when we were in Goodwill we saw that the author of Beaches Iris Rainier Dart wrote a sequel called Beaches II I'll Be There and I wondered why Touchstone Pictures never thought of turning Beaches II I'll Be There into a movie. From what my mom and I read of the Beaches sequel novel Cee Cee Bloom gains fame as a talk show host and launches her own talk show and a singing career. Was Beaches not as successful as they thought to make Beaches II?

They planned a sequel but never made it.

Beaches II was planned but they never ever developed it? Was Beaches II gonna be based on the Beaches II I'll Be There novel? Beaches II would've been wonderful to see if it could've been made. My mom has loved Beaches since she first saw it on TV and because she likes Bette Midler. I wonder why Beaches II never got put into development? Was it due to money or was Bette Midler offered another movie at the time?

All I remember is that they were going to have Barbara Eden in it instead of Bette Midler. Not sure why. And yes it would have been based on the book.

Barbara Eden was gonna replace Bette Midler for Beaches II I'll Be There? I wonder why because they could've used Bette Midler to return to the Cee Cee Bloom role. My mom loves the movie Beaches and she would've loved the sequel if it were to exist
