Default UPDATE: The remains of Carol Ann Riley, victim of Robert Weeks, have been identified

Robert Weeks was one of the first fugitives profiled on the show (in the first Karl Malden special). Three women disappeared after last having dinner with him: his ex-wife, Patricia Weeks, in 1968; his girlfriend, Cynthia Jabour, in 1980; and another girlfriend, Carol Ann Riley, in 1986. He was the first fugitive arrested as a result of the show. He was convicted of Patricia and Cynthia's murders and later died in prison. However, none of his victims' bodies were ever found - until now.

In July of this year, investigators identified Carol Ann Riley as a Jane Doe whose skeletal remains were found near Lake Mead on May 16, 1987. Her skull was found near Bonelli Landing, and nearby, more remains were found wrapped in a blanket in a shallow grave. For years, investigators tried to identify the remains through various means, including DNA testing. However, it was dental records that confirmed the remains were Carol Ann's.

Wow. I honestly never had much hope any of the three women would've been found, let alone identified. That's great. I had forgotten Weeks was strongly suspected to have killed a (male) business partner, too.

Doesn't it just seem odd that after near 40 years, an identification method that has been in use for thousands of years is what IDed her?

I mean, you can't just compare every body to every dental record, you have to have a reason to compare to a specific person.. But still..

Sometimes the old methods work best, but you have to have someone who's willing to put in the work...
