Default Does somebody like Remington Steele???

I saw a post from Kismet who said she liked it. I LOVE Remington Steele, but not as much as I love Moonlighting, hehehe. But the relationship of Remington and Laura was so different from the one that Maddie and David have...

Well, if somebody wants to do a comparison or something like that... I'll be glad to join you

hmmm I have seen a few Remington Steele episodes.... Laura is the experienced detective and Remington has no detecting background but comes into the agency. Laura owns the agency but Remington is presented as the boss and figurehead. Remington definitely has the elegant, pretty boy from society background image going while Laura is the more down to earth spunky type.

I also think the competition/banter between Remington and Laura is not as fast and furious as D&M's and usually involves issues of the work/profession--they have a lot of professional tension. Whereas D&M is more a battle of the sexes and centered around sexual tension

I can't discuss Remington Steele because I haven't seen an episode in 20 years or so. I remember liking it, but as Cindy stated, there wasn't that tremendous sexual tension that you saw in Moonlighting. Of course, maybe that had lots to do with the people playing the roles. Bruce and Cybill had ELECTRICITY between them that is rarely seen on the big or small screen and that filtered through to David and Maddie IMO.

Remington Steele is cool... but not cult

it is still aired on French TV from times to times, unlike Moonlighting.... so in fact i am more familiar with Remington Steele than with Moonlighting (i mean i have seen more episodes and have more recollection about it...hehe)

but Moonlighting was definetely more original... it's a crazy series !!! way more creative

Remington Steele is just detective stories...

I think RS is a bit older than ML... i have been wondering if ML didnt copy the "one-girl&one-guy-run-detective-agency" concept from RS... but even if it did, the result turned out completely different.

well, just my opinion

Remington Steele was on first. In fact, Glenn Caron worked on it before he created Moonlighting. There were stories at the time about the similarities, but aside from the boy-girl detective thing, I didn't see them. They were doing a whole different thing with Moonlighting and it was head and shoulders above Remington Steele.

Yes Cindy, I agree, you got it right. The relationship between Laura and him is not like David and Maddie's. They still have a lot of tension going on... but it's like that because of another fact: nobody knows who the hell Remington Steele is. They know nothing about his past, and that makes him seem very misterious and atractive. He is sooo charming too... But I see their relationship as hmmm a "sweet" one. Maddie and Dave's relationship is like... more "rough" (sort of speaking).

I met Stephanie Zimbalist a couple of years ago backstage..she's a very sweet and funny person but when I mentioned Remington Steele I saw that she tried to smile and be nice about it but she really didn't want to talk about it and changed the subject to something about one of her earlier movies...

Here's a pic - never mind how weird i look in this one...

Thanks for posting the pic. That is def Stephanie there. Too bad she isn't so big on RS...as I believe that is what most fans know her for. I don't know very much about the tension on RS and what might have soured it all for her. But that is unfortunate.

No problem, Cindy.

Yes, I don't know why it turned out to be such a 'mess' - and I think that's the right way to describe it. I told her back then that I had this little tribute to Remington Steele and smiled and said it was nice but she didn't really elaborate if you know what I mean, not like some other actors that would start to talk about it and how much fun they had. It's too sad but she's a good person plus I haven't heard exactly good things about Pierce Brosnan. I believe even Teri Hatcher thought he was a difficult person to deal with. I never met him so I can't say anything about Pierce but that might explain the hate they had. Like I said, too bad, it was a good show I think.

I used to watch every episode from Moonlighting and Remington Steele back then when they first aired. Now I got both DVD boxes and I have to say, if you watch ML and afterwards RS you're kinda disappointed, it's so much slower then ML. Sure RS and LH are hot together but not as hot as MH and DA.
Still RS certainly is one of the best 80th shows.

Hey everyone,

Not sure where this belongs, but here it goes...

I was just on the website for TV on DVD and saw that RS Season 2 will be out in November. Ugh, the first season came out after ML, now the 2nd's already due out. What's that about? Sorry, just thought I'd vent. Oh, I also read that one of the best selling Lion's Gate shows, on DVD, is The Dead Zone. BTW, the blurb (from 7/05) also said Moonlighting was the only other show that even comes close.

Okay, I'm done... I know that wasn't completed related. Anyway, I too like RS, but 'tis true, after watching ML, RS seems a little bland. ML is far better, IMO.

I watched both shows at the time and thought RS was pretty funny--I always liked it; but in RS the plot and the comedy were the main elements, where ML was funny but with much more underlying drama, and the relationship as central to the story.
