It happens. Sometimes the production staff don’t do their homework.
There’s a story of Barbara Lowe, a Jeopardy! contestant who was deemed ineligible. And, reruns with her appearance were “buried” for over 3 decades: https://gameshows.fandom.com/wiki/Barbara_Lowe cd |

Yeah that’s true.
All I know is that every Jeopardy! ep since 1984 should be accessible, but Barbara’s games were a holy grail for a long time. Semi-OT: Some game shows are marked “NOT FOR REBROADCAST.” One example was an imbecilic constestant on The Price Is Right about 10 years ago, a 21-ish goofball named Joseph. An item was brought out for bids. Joseph bid out loud “TWO MILLION DOLLARS!” Drew Carey did the proper thing and moved on to the next contestant. Like I said, producers don’t always do the right thing. They had no idea that Joseph wanted to make a travesty out of the program. (Personally if I were on the crew, I’d mark NOT FOR BROADCAST any show where a contestant proudly bids “FOUR TWENTY!” But c’est moi.) I no longer watch TPIR, for reasons I won’t say here. cd |
