In an earlier post, I was trying to find more clues to where and what
state the Cleaver's live. Most posts give a strong indication that they live in the state of Ohio near Cleveland, Shaker Heights being closed to there. Also Pennsylvania and New Jersey were noted as neighboring states. I have also hear on different episodes reference to the beach. Now on the episode about the "Paperboy", Beaver supposing beats up the girl who is delivering papers for her sick brother that has the measles. At the end of the show, we find that Beaver is invited by this girl to go to the beach and try out this girl's brother's new surfboard. Question? Where in the heck would there be anywhere in the Ohio that would have waves to use a surfboard. As usual, I am just try poking holes in the show looking for clues and inconsistent writing because I think it's fun to find the flaws. I of course do this because of my passion for the show. Nothing with malice of course. Cory

I always wondered about the surfing thing too. I think there was another episode that talked about surfing but I can't remember which one. I too always thought that Mayfield was somewhere in Ohio because of the times when Larry would say his dad was in Cincinnati. Maybe because the Beach Boys were becoming popular at that time in the early 60's they wanted to mention it in the show. Or they wanted the boys to have other sports interests besides baseball, basketball and football.

I suppose it's a stretch of the imagination, but if you wait until there are gale warnings posted for Lake Erie, you could probably surf on those waves. LOL
