I think he already said a few years back he was slowly retiring from doing Svengoolie which is why they brought on new younger actors to eventually phase him out.

Rich Koz (Svengoolie) is a unique talent, and that's the key here. The new performers bluntly speaking don't have it. They seem like performers you might experience at a haunted mansion amusement ride. Rich is 73, he's had two heart attacks so stepping away at this point in his life makes sense. I don't know what can be done to save this franchise, but it's not in place at this time, that's for sure.
