Default the paper "boy"

I could not stop laughing at how Ward made that girl cry!!! I loved when Beaver was like, way to go dad! you made her cry and ward just kept saying that he didn't make her cry. You almost felt bad enough for Ward considering he never had to deal with a crying girl!

Yeah, I thought it was funny too. Ward was about to panic until June came to the rescue!

Default Reference to the "beach" again

In the "Paperboy" episode they make reference again about the beach
and Beaver is invited to go with the girl and use her brother "surfboard"
and go to the beach...what beach would that be that would have waves,
they suppposingly live in Ohio.

Well, the actual series was filmed at Universal Studios (The Munster's House is across the street!) If you look closely at June's china dishes, the plates are the same as those used by Lilly Munster! Check it out!

The fictional town of Mayfield supposedly exists in suburban Ohio. This has been indirectly referenced many times. Some questions that I don't know about some geography that might clarify LITB's location...we shall see!

1. Where are the towns of "Bellport", "Riverside", and "Indian Carriage?" What about "Crystal Falls?" Is there a "Friends Lake?"

2. I do know that "Shaker Heights" is an Ohio suberb, where Ward is from

(With regard to Ward's occupation)

3. I believe that Ward is an account executive for a team of financial planners. I also believe that Ward was an engineer in the Seabees. (Mechanical Engineer) It is possible that Ward started college as a Philosophy major, didn't like it, changed to engineering. (Which involves a strong Math background) and finally preferred working with figures than being a "land surveyor". This would explain his current occupation on the show, which involves almost nothing directly related to engineering.

Maybe the producers throughout the course of the show forgot at times that Ohio is not near the ocean. (They put more emphasis on the filming at Universal Studios) then where Mayfield is supposed to be! It appears that the "Captain JacK" episode WAS filmed at an actual aligator farm, and I know they have several aligator farms in California (and Florida for that matter.)

Mayfield and Shaker Heights are both suburbs of Cleveland, and are both minutes away from where I live. I know on NLITB, Eddie's family is supposed to be originally from Akron, a city not far from Cleveland. One thing that's strange is that in never snows in LITB, although it does in NLITB.

I'm guessing that Beaver has a similar occupation as his dad, because he eventually goes to work for Mr. Rutherford, but then loses his job (I think??), and he and Lumpy start their own business in a small office space, where both desks are in the same room, although there is a reception area. Eventually, they start doing business with a Japanese company, although I have no idea what they actually do.

Dear HaskellGirl,

So there truly is a Mayfield in Ohio?

Secondly, since I know you're an avid follower of the show perhaps you can
help with this baffling question.

In several shows they frequently mention and elude about the boys going
to the beach and also on the "Paperboy" episode, they even so much
mention Beaver going to use a "surfboard". Where would they
get such an idea as a surfboard in the script. Where in Ohio would they
use such a thing as a surfboard. As usual, I am just poking holes in the script
and having fun with the little flaws.

There are beaches on Lake Erie, but I think sometimes the writers were in a California mindset.
