Can anyone supply any information about the redheaded actress, Jo Rowbottom, who throughout the 60's and 70's seemed never to be off off British TV? She appeared in many sit-coms, and was one of the stars in the series 'Romany Jones'. Is she still with us?

As far as I know, Jo Rowbottom is still with us - at least, I haven't seen her listed as deceased in the Internet Movie Database. As you say, the lady seemed to pop up on TV quite a lot during the 60s and 70s. I can remember her being in a few things in the 80s and the 90s as well. But the first time I noticed her was when she starred in "Romany Jones" alongside the late, great James Beck. At the time, also, I saw an article in a magazine commenting about an aspect of the series. Apparently somebody said that it would be nice if people who lived on caravan sites like in the series were either likeable rogues like James Beck's caharacter, or sexy ladies like Jo Rowbottom. Unfortunately they were more likely to be idle lumps like Arthur Mullard's character, and instead of looking like Jo Rowbottom (more's the pity), they looked like Queenie Watts! Sadly, it seems that "Romany Jones" gets slated a lot in reference guides as one of the worst shows ever made, but I don't remeber it as being so bad, at least no better or worse than similar sitcoms of the time. About time it came out on video or DVD, wouldn't you say? Around that time, I saw an item about Jo Rowbottom that described her as always playing brassy barmaid types. I think it was an interview she did to promote "Romany Jones" in a TV Times-type magazine. Another item about her, this time in the TV Times, described her as having "the best pair of legs since Shirley McClaine." I think that Jo Rowbottom must have retired from acting, as a while ago her photo stopped appearing in "Spotlight".
