The new neighbors episode
Was this a backdoor pilot for a spin off? Rose needs a handyman for the building and a kid at school suggests his father just so they can move to a better neighborhood. The family is Latino and they have the stereotypical accents they had on 1980 sitcoms. The guy is not really a handyman but a concert violinist. The family only appears in one more episode and then poof they are gone forever. Were they cast to be regular cast members or some sort of spin off? It just seems so much screen time is centered around this new family and the regular cast members are only supporting cast members in the episode. I did not see anything online suggesting this was a spin off idea. It just could be a poorly written episode to bring even more diversity to the show.
