Default Why was Jenny Jones a popular talk show host in the 90's?

My mom used to watch Jenny Jones's talk show and I had never figured out why on earth she was a popular talk show host in the 90's? Is it because Jenny Jones hoped to be as popular as Oprah Winfrey or Sally Jessy Raphael? Because when Jenny Jones's talk show was launched in 1991 I think Jenny Jones had planned to make herself a huge household name. And you can tell by the intro of Jenny Jones's talk show in 1991 that they tried to make the debut intro of the show cute and even though the first Jenny Jones show intro was cute it just didn't fit Jenny Jones's style. But before becoming a talk show host Press Your Luck fans saw her as a contestant on Press Your Luck in the 80's and I think that appearance was the first step to making her a talk show host. But these days you don't hear much about Jenny Jones anymore today and I think Jenny Jones wanted to get her name out so she could be a successful talk show host

I think why Jenny Jones became so popular in 90's talk show hosts was because she had a unique style that made her different from the other female talk show hosts. But I think she had competition with Oprah Winfrey and Ricki Lake who's talk show also debuted in the 90's and with Jenny Jones trying to become a superstar talk show she knew what fame could do. As a Press Your Luck fan I never knew Jenny Jones was a contestant on that game show way before her talk show began. I wonder if she and the late Peter Tomarken were best friends and he made Jenny Jones get into the talk show genre?

Alot of them back in the 80's and 90's . The scandalous talk shows were becoming really popular by the 90's . Besides Phil Donahue, Oprah , Geraldo Rivera, We had Jerry Springer, Rickie, Lake, Montell Williams, Sally Jessie Rafael and more. I guess Jenny got the opportunity and went with it. It was before most people had internet and home computers .so TV was still popular . Talk shows were something different from the other daytime shows like soap operas and game shows.

^Not only that, but in the 1995-96 season, there were numerous talk show attempts that came and went in that season alone, such as Tempestt Bledsoe, Gabrielle Carteris, Carnie Wilson, Danny Bonaduce, Mark L. Walberg, George Hamilton/Alana Stewart, and likely a few others as well.

Yes. I remember Tempest and Gabrielle , and that they didn't last long.

To be honest my favs were Jerry Springer and Ricky Lake, the more wild the better. Oprah and Phil were sweet people , but the drama wasn't as wild!
