Did anyone watch? I did. It was nice to have a full half day of The Ropers. I have seen each episode several times but a few things stuck out to me. The writing was pretty weak. A good sitcom can make anything funny. Most of the writing was easy set ups for laughs i.e. Stanely mistakenly buy's Helen's sister's furniture, Stanley steals electricity from the neighbors, Stanley locks himself out of the apartment, etc.
I noticed in the first few episodes the banter between Helen and Stanley was similar to Threes Company. But then it changed and Helen seemed much more mellow as the episodes drag on. The Ropers just seemed to have no purpose. Stanley had no job. Just his presence annoyed Mr Brooks and that is not enough IMHO. I also think the cute kid David did not add anything to the show. Instead of Stanley being the nemesis, it was Mr Brooks many times.
Having said all that, The Ropers was a better spin off than Threes A Crowd IMHO. Both suffered from the "over acting" that happens on stale sitcoms. It happens even in the best sitcoms and it happened late in Threes Company. Each character just seems to over act which I find annoying.
Love that Antenna TV gave them a marathon day. Norman and Audra must be proud their work is still being watched.

Yeah and didnt know Mr. Angelino appeared on there. Also the old guy who played Cindy's boss seemed to not on appear on Ropers but also on Threes a Crowd and several roles on TC.

BTW: Ann was too hot not to have her own show

Ann was definitely beautiful. The character was good too. I found her husband and boy annoying. The show needed so much more of the sexual tension between them. I think in the entire series we see them in bed once. On Threes Company some of their funniest lines were always in bed. Helen's mother and sister were so fake it was annoying. I liked the Jenny character but they should have thought of another way to introduce her. She was sleeping in their townhouse for weeks and the never noticed? Yet they invite her to stay. I still believe there could of been a way for this show to work but they went to silly sitcom route. But as The Ropers were dumb, the original show Threes Company was getting dumb too.
