I watched "The Honeymooners" and noticed that whenever Jackie Gleason or Art Carney would walk on the set, the audience clapped and shouted for joy. The same goes for 1970's sitcoms. That's something that I miss about sitcoms today.

Also, back on "I Love Lucy", the cast were not aloud to use the word pregnant. In fact, Ricky and Lucy slept in seperate beds (which was stupid). Now a days, Rachel gets pregnant and the big question to the audience is "Who's the Father to Rachel's baby?". I don't mind a few sex-coms, but it would be nice to have a variety.

Also again, I don't really laugh at sitcoms anymore. (with the exception of Fox's "Andy Richter Controls the Universe" and CBS's "Bram and Alice") We need more actors like Jackie Gleason, Fred Gwynne and Phil Hartman.

Same here. I really enjoy that when an actor/actress enters and gets a huge applause from the audience. It just makes it feel real. I was watching an episode of Mad About You yesterday morning, and the guests were Carroll O'Connor and Carol Burnett. Well, you should have heard the applause and shouting for them as they entered. It was great. I guess most shows just don't want the trouble of a studio audience anymore (there are a few who still have them).
