Default Favorite and Least Favorite Seasons

Many post lately have been about how each season compared to the others. So here are my favorite and least favorite seasons.

ILL: I would have to say season 2 was the best. The first half of season 1 wasn't that great. The writers and cast were still working on jelling together. But by the end of Season 1 things started going great with many classic episodes like Job Switching and Lucy Does a Commericial. This momentum carried on into Season 2 and the addition of Lucy's pregnancy made it fantastic. The worst I think was Season 6. The first half they before they moved to the country was getting somewhat dull. I don't think the country episodes are particularly great except for "Lucy Does the Tango". That's a classic.

And for fun since this has been a hot topic lately TLS:
This is so clear cut. Season 1 is, without a doubt, the best season. Lucy and Viv were great together. The scripts and plots were logical and great. I had lots and lots of laughs. The worst is season 4. The show had started to decline in season 3 with the loss of Bob and Madelyn and Desi the year before. But when Viv left, the plots and scripts had no premises, the character Lucy had no premise, and it got to be stupid.

And why not HL:
I would have to say season 3 is the best. The season premere "Lucy Meets the Burtons" was the best of the series. It also marked the return on a part-time basis of Bob and Madelyn. For the most part, the scripts and plots were good and logical, the cast worked well together, the character Lucy actually had a life and overall it was good. The worst is season 5. It's like season 4 of TLS......only worse!!

Sorry to say you never get answers on these as so few people have these shows, and so few have seen them on these boards, just old fogeys like me, as i saw them when they originally aired!

I do get a few on these boards. But its ok that I don't get too many replies. We talk about Lucy's other shows more on the ILL board than we do on these!

But i'm glad when you bring them up, because of the memories that flood back to me. I know it's sacreligious to say, but i would rather watch The Lucy show and Here's Lucy at this point of my life because i've memorized the ILL shows while these i haven't seen in decades and would LOVE to see them again! Why don't you come on to OTHER Lucy boards, so we could all enjoy your posts?

Well, this one is a great board, as is Lucy Talk, and Lucy in the Classroom, then there's Babalu's site and the I Love Lucille Ball fansite. Then there's Tom Watson's Lucyfan enterprises, but his board is not the best type like the one we're on now, but Tom is Lucy's old publicist and he knows everything, it would be so nice if he had a board like this one, where we could actually get feedback from him!

I Love Lucy:
Favorite: 3rd or 4th Season
Least-Favorite: 1st Season

The Lucy Show:
Favorite: 2nd Season
Least-Favorite: 4th Season

Here's Lucy:
Favorite: 1st Season
Least-Favorite: 5th Season

About the least-favorites:
I Love Lucy: The first season had more weak episodes compared to the other seasons of the show. The chemistry amongst the actors wasn't at its best (at least not yet).

The Lucy Show: The fourth season had more weak episodes compared to the other seasons of the show. The writing wasn't that all great and some of the plots seemed so unbelievable. I think this is probably the worst season of Lucille Ball's entire acting career.

Here's Lucy: The fifith season had more weak episodes compared to the other seasons of the show. Same as TLS but 50 percent better.

Default Favorite Seasons

I Love Lucy- Season 4 - BEST
I Love Lucy- least liked - Season 1 (many good episodes/were in the process of putting all the pieces together/second half of season one much better)

The Lucy Show - Season 1 - BEST
The Lucy Show - least liked - Season 5 (I actually liked season 5 but since I had to pick a season I picked season 5)

Here's Lucy - Season 3 - BEST
Here's Lucy - least liked - Season 6 (was time to put the series to rest/Lucy was smart to quit while she was still on top)

I liked the first three seasons the best as these had Desi Jr. and Lucie. The seasons without the kids were not my favorite though I thought they were okay. Anyone know why the kids ended up leaving the show?

Okay, I'll modify my previous response a bit. There are some good Here's Lucy episodes here and there, especially those written by Bob and Madelyn in the last couple of seasons, which were pretty solid. The first few seasons had a lot of silly plots (Bob and Madelyn weren't around at that time), but there was a good energy vibe going on that wasn't felt so much later.

I know that Desi Jr was anxious to spread his own wings and launch a film career, so that is why he left. Lucie stayed on longer, almost to the end.

It's been so long since I've seen the entire run, but I do know i enjoy seeing Lucy interact with her kids, so I can say I do enjoy those episodes a lot!
