IDW Announces New "Twilight Zone" Black-and-White Anthology Comic
The Twilight Zone will get Black-and-White Anthology Comic
by Nick Romano June 11, 2025 Back in October, indie publisher IDW announced a collaboration with Paramount to launch a new imprint. Through IDW Dark, some of the Hollywood studio's horror franchises will now enter the comic book space. Entertainment Weekly can exclusively reveal one of the first projects from this partnership. The Twilight Zone is getting an anthology comic series that will be rendered in black and white as a nod to the original TV show that captivated viewers in the late 1950s and early '60s. While there are plans for additional issues in the future, the initial order consists of five issues. Each will be a complete, standalone tale from various storytellers. The kickoff issue, titled "Blanks," hails from writer Dan Watters (Batman: Dark Patterns) and artist Morgan Beem (Swamp Thing: Twin Branches), and will go on sale Sept. 24. Not much is known about the specific story, but the cover art features a man in a hospital bed terrorized by the sight of faceless physicians attending to him. Another piece of cover art for the first issue — part of a connecting set of covers designed by Francesco Francavilla — includes the phrase "You unlock this door with the key of imagination." "The Twilight Zone is a genre unto itself," Watters tells EW in a statement. "It's a cultural titan and a North Star in the strangest skies revealing what science fiction, fantasy and horror can do for us: revealing uncomfortable truths about what lies in our own hearts. This is precisely the vein we hope to tap with our story; the unsettled space between angry and unnerving that is forever the purview of The Twilight Zone." https://ew.com/the-twilight-zone-com...ealed-11749037 |
