Angry McTALLICA??!!

I think that's what we should call them, all right. Anyone remember over 15 years ago when they were the bright shining hope in metal?? (None of you, huh?) When they were THE band that COULD single-handedly stop all the war and corruption in the world?? Songs like "Disposable Heroes", "Fight Fire With Fire", "One", "And Justice For All", "For Whom the Bell Tolls," "Eye of the Beholder", etc. MAAAAAAAAN, they were out for blood back then!!!! They were the epitome of all that was cool. They were the real full-meal deal.
But NOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW............... What do they do???? They WHINE, WHIMPER and WAMPER about WIMPY things like Napster!!!!!!!!! And Justice fer all, my left armpit!!!!! Oh yeah, lost royalties due to online piracy, okay Lars, you made your point, you wallowed in it for the past 6 years, get back and RAWWWWWWK!!!!!!!!!! For a band that started out acting like they could actually TAKE OVER THE ENTIRE COUNTRY with their songs, they've gotten to sound like a bunch of yuppies!!!! Yeah, bootlegging and ripping off artists is a problem,
no question, but HOW ROCK & ROLL IS IT to talk about it forever??? I'd like to see how these guys are gonna save their image...

I remember those days...I'm sure in an interview from back then they made all the usual statements like "I'd play for free" or "I'd still make music even if I couldn't make money at it". I agree with you that bootlegging is a big problem and that bands lose money but ENOUGH already - get back to being one of the only great (still together) metal bands while you still can. Between napster and their own in-fighting, they're really coming off like jerks.

Back in the 80's, they actually DID nickname themselves Alcoholica, so you're not really being rude.

Another name I have for them is AlternaPaloozika, because they were some how pegged as an "Alternative" band for Lollapalooza
back in 1996, because someone said, "they were really an 'alternative' band in the 80's..." because supposedly they didn't do metal the way the other bands did. I think it's really because Lollapalooza couldn't find a big enough act to draw a crowd... There's a station here in Seattle, The End 107.7
that actually PLAYS them as if they were alternative...
