Ever since I got the soundtrack I often wondered why the movie Valley Girl became a hot movie in 1983? I read that it was Nicolas Cage's debut movie as well as the first movie that Amy Heckerling debuted. Did Valley Girl do very well in theaters or did it recieve lukewarm reactions? I think Valley Girl's soundtrack is so cool and has loads of amazing songs

Amy Heckerling didn't direct Valley Girl, Martha Coolidge did.

Amy's first movie was Fast Times At Ridgemont High, which was also the very first theatrical screen appearance for Nic Cage, though he had a very minor role. Valley Girl was his first lead role.

Yes! I think Valley Girl was a big hit of a movie . I remember I was in my early 20's when it came out , still living back east before I moved out here to SoCal . I was very curious , as I think alot of people throughout the country were about the life and culture of the San Fernando Valley and the Valley girls because of this movie .

What's Valley Girl actually about? Does the girl fall in love with Nicolas Cage's character? And who else is also in Valley Girl? I know E.G. Daily is because before she provided the voice of Tommy Pickles in Rugrats and became a voice actress she was a big movie star
