Default Any Columbo fans out there?

I love this show. But not really the ABC tv movies of recent years. I love the famous NBC mystery movie format of the 70's. Columbo was at his peak then. My favorite Columbo's include:

The episode guest starring Ruth Gordon as an Agatha Christie type mystery writer who murders her son-in-law.

The episode with a beared Dick Van Dyke as a photographer who murders his snobby wife.

Any Columbo featuring Jack Cassidy--the smuggest of all the villians, but especially the one where Cassidy plays the Great Santini--the magician.

And the one with Ross Martin as a food critic who kills a chef.

Oh and the one...

I'm a Columbo fan. My favorites are

A gospel singer (country singer Johnny Cash) who murders his blackmailing wife (Ida Lupino)

A wine producer (Donald Pleasance of "Halloween" fame) who murders his brother (Gary Conway of "Land of the Giants") about to sell the business

I love Columbo and I agree about the older episodes being better. The Jack Cassidy episodes were especially good. My favorites are:

JC as the Great Santini
The Johnny Cash episode
The episode with Robert Conrad as Mr. Janus the health club guy
The episode where him & his wife go on the cruise and the singer is killed.
Leonard Nimoy as the killer Dr.

I can't think of any really that I don't like from that time.

I watch Columbo on BRAVO every chance I get. My favorite episodes include:

Lady in Waiting -- where Susan Clark kills her brother so she can marry Leslie Nielsen and take over the business.

Robert Conrad as the health club owner

Any Robert Culp/Jack Cassidy episode

Susanne Pleshette as the woman who witnesses Eddie Albert kill a guy

...very few that I dont like

Yes. And, oh boy! Who could forget the villains. For those who have, excluding those listed above, here are the actors who tried to match wits with Peter Falk on "Columbo."

Richard Basehart, Honor Blackman
John Cassevettes, Jackie Cooper
Fred Draper
Hector Elizondo
Jose Ferrer
Laurence Harvey, George Hamilton
Richard Kiley
Martin Landau, Janet Leigh
Roddy McDowell, Ray Milland, Vera Miles, Patrick McGoohan, Ricardo Montalban
Patrick O'Neal
Clive Revill
Robert Vaughn
Oskar Werner, Nicol Williamson

The one I missed not seeing was Vincent Price. While he was on an episode of "Columbo," the one with Vera Miles, I believe, he was not the villain.

I also like Columbo & Peter Falk was perfect for the role. However, Peter Falk almost didn't get the role. It was first offered to Bing Crosby who turned it down because it would interfere with his golf game. Coincidentally his death came after playing a round in oct 1977.

By the way ErciIdleFan, It's good to see that someone besides myself actually remembers John Roberts when he was at MuchMusic. I used to love that station and thought they were better than Mtv.

I like it sometimes. But many eps were semi-bad. I couldn't stand the Sal Mineo one. Also, the Jack Cassidy ones turn me off. That's all. Amazed how good the quality of the film is after 30+ years (in some cases).

MY brother loves the show. He sees the episodes over and over. I usually see a few myselft, Walking my Baby back home, well thats what I call it starring Janet Leigh. Volaire the one on a cruise ship with Robert Vaugh. and the Dick van dyke photographer. I know when Lee Grant comes on the episodes are back to the beginning. Oh just the other day I saw the light episode with Johnny Cash.

I loved COLUMBO. So did my mother, and so did my sister. My favorite cop
show and one of the most unforgettable television characters of all time, I
think. Favorite villains (a partial list) ...
Gene Barry (pilot "Prescription Murder")
Leonard Nimoy ("A Stitch in Crime")
Johnny Cash ("Swan Song")
Dick Van Dyke ("Negative Reaction")
William Shatner ("Fade-In to Murder")

I don't think that the later two-hour TV-movies were as good as the original
90-minute limited series. But it is still always fun to see Columbo outsmart
the killer (although, in real life, a cop his age would have been forced to
retire years ago!).

I like most all of the Columbo episodes and very seldom miss them. Must have missed the Vincent Price one too because do not remember it all....
