An I Love Lucy Mother’s Day:

(Ricky is talking to Lucy.)

Ricky: “Lucy, my mother is coming all the way from Cuba. I told her what you said. You would be baking a cake.”

Lucy: “Yes I will. Me and Ethel will be baking it.”

Ricky: “Well, where is it? It’s Mother’s Day. I told you to bake this in advance.”

Lucy: “I was tired.”

Ricky: “You are tired yet you had time to waste my money by going to Target to buy clothes that you don’t need.”

Lucy: “I want to look nice for your mother.”

(Ethel comes by.)

Ethel: “Hi Lucy! Im ready to bake the cake.”

Lucy: “Im not. I want to watch Face The Nation first.”

Ricky: “What? Suppose sonething happens to you later?”

Lucy: “Don’t worry.”

Ricky: “Ai-yi-yi!”

(Later on, Lucy and Ethel frantically are baking the cake in their country club kitchen.)

Ethel: “Lucy did you have to waste two hours after your TV show to talk to Betty Ramsey?”

Lucy: “I couldn’t get off the phone with her. Plus, you know that we have to use this kitchen because Ricky & Fred are painting the kitchen.”

(They do a real bad job with the cake because they are in a rush. Finally, it’s dessert time and Ricky’s mother is there. They are speaking Spanish to each other.)

Ricky (to Little Ricky and Fred): “The cake is coming!”

(A huge splat is heard outside. Lucy & Ethel come in with cake all over them and the cake is ruined. Everyone else looks like they are mad.)

Fred: “Ethel, you mean to tell me that you didn’t EAT ALL OF THAT CAKE?”

Lucy: “Now Ricky, I can explain. We’re sorry. We made the cake frantically since I waited until it was the last minute and we ran and tripped.”

(They all start laughing.)

Ricky: “This is so utterly ridiculous and it can only happen to you too.”

(They all laugh.)

Ricky: “Happy Mothers Day to Lucy and my mom.”

(They all continue laughing.)
