Question First Episode with Raul?

When they come back from the first commercial break there is music playing in the background sounds like Jose Feliciano but he is like doing a melody to the theme song. Is that a real song or just something done special for that episode?

I don't know Ed, but watching the first episodes without Freddie is like attenting a funeral---much to sad for this Freddie fan. I wonder what has happened to Gabriel Melgar? He would have to be somewhere in his 30's today.??????

I can't STAND to watch the episodes without
Chico. It almost hurts!!! Did they do something with Chico's new room in the back?
I haven't watched any episode all the way through but I did sneak peak at the ones my VCR recorded this week. I'm going to stop recording however, and just record the one
where Ed tells Raul that "Chico is dead".
That's a real tear jerker - honestly!!!!!!
It looks like there is some junk or something
back along the wall where Chico's room was.
Has anyone had the nerve to watch it to see what I mean?

I think Gabriel Melgar had some awfully big shoes to fill when he took that role. Looking back, it was probably a bad move for his agent to put him in a role like that. No one could ever replace our Chico. His career went "kaput" as far as I know. I wrote him a fan letter back in 1978, but he hasn't wrote back yet. I'm waiting, Gabriel!!! LOL

Sad

I've not been taping the episodes with Raul simply because I don't find them very entertaining. I don't know if it's just me noticing or not, but does Ed seem to be cold towards Raul? Not in that "sarcastically/fond" way that he was with Chico? My cable box is timed to turn on TVLand at 5:00 a.m. Even though I'm not real awake, I can hear what's said and there is a harshness in Ed's voice that wasn't there with Chico.

No they didnt show that episode yet. But Ed keeps calling him Chico. The episode your talking about i read is where Raul runs away when he learns there was a Chico before him and i guess Ed has to tell him the truth.

Isn't that episode a two-parter? I seem to remember when it originally aired it was an hourlong special. Wonder if TVLand will break it up over two days. Anyone check the schedule?

Also, does anybody know what GM is doing these days? Anybody have a clue? I found a listing in WhoWhere for a Gabriel Melgar in Providence, RI, but I didn't have the nerve to call

It would be interesting to get his input on what the atmosphere was like after Freddie's death.

My satellite dish i acting up on me again. The picture is going up & donw again just like those old tv'swith teh horizontal control on them they had yrs ago when I was young. & The sound won't work on the satellite either. It cuts in & out. This mess happens sometime when we get a bad t-storm or the weather goes back & forth from hot to cold. I wish we could afford to get the dish re-aligned. Maybe that would help. So no Chico as of right now except Ed's head is bouncing up & down. Please magically clear up soon.
