Benson IS Screen Gems. Screen Gems means distributed by Columbia Tri-Star Television. The Screen Gems Network is canceled since September.

It had low ratings. It was a hour syndicated block airing weekdays from Fall 1999 to end if this summer 2002.

Here in Philadelphia they still show "Odd Couple" on GTW Channel 48. BTW, is that also in just regular syndication on its own or was it on The Screen Gems Network only in syndication?

The Odd Couple is not even a Screen Gems show. It is from Paramount. Odd Couple still airs on some locals in syndication. Like I said before, SGN is no more.

Everyday here, SGN just played Bewtiched and Jeannie. Over the course of 3 years, only for 8 days did I see anything other than Bewitched and Jeannie. (with the exception of like a month with Partridge Fam. and The Monkees.) Maybe SGN should have gotten it together and actually played all the other shows. I thought that was the dumbest thing ever. SGN was the same for everybody in terms of what they aired everyday right? Did you all just see Bewitched and Jeannie?

SGN was set up to fail judging by the time slots these shows were in. 5-6 am? Jeez, at least give us 4-5pm or something like that!

The problem I had with SGN was that it was a marketing ploy for independent stations to have classic TV programs on, and provide more commerical time. When I taped shows from it, I noticed that the episodes were edited down from normal syndication time (approximately 22 minutes) to 20 minutes or less. This in turn leaves ten minutes (one third the time slot) for just commericals. Then they thought that having trivia questions would make it more fun for you to watch the re-runs. That part is true, yet I didn't like them editing down the already edited episodes to fit more commerical time, and I didn't like the fact that they showed the end credits in a small box in the corner of the screen, which made it impossible to see the copyright date. Of course, you can get the airdates on any Benson episode guide.

I am the editor of Benson at www.tvtome.com.

Rob,

Thanks for the great Benson episode guide! I saw a different one posted somewhere but it wasn't complete.

Still holding out hope for Benson to be released on DVD. Judging by some of the shows I see coming out, I really am getting more and more optimistic all the time

No, Benson is not a Screen Gems show. Screen Gems productions folded in 1974, after The Partridge family was cancelled. It's actually from Columbia. See the Yahoo CLG for a few details that might talk about Benson being a Columbia show.

I suppose that because Jeannie and Bewitched were the most popular they aired them the most. In NYC they showed them most, but they also showed Partridge Family and the Monkees in a couple of monthly intervals. On a few Fridays they showed stuff like Police Woman or some other hour long show. I don't ever recall Benson airing, but I can't say for certain. This was 5 seasons back.

Benson did indeed air on SGN during the Fall of 2000 to Spring of 2001. Unfortunately for me I didn't have access to tape record any episodes until about March when I bought a tv with a VHS recorder just as the show was ready to be replaced again with Bewitched and Jeannie. I managed to get 15 episodes when it was yanked.
