In the sense that Richard Kline in an increased role, was an excellent supporting character in his scenes with John Ritter, as well as other cast members. And Don Knotts' comic presence allowed Priscilla Barnes to be more balanced. By this point, Priscilla seemed to be more of a "straight woman" while Joyce DeWitt became a bit more overtly comic, as well as all spastic and ditzy.

I have mixed feelings about this. When the show started to lean on Larry and Furley more was when the show started running on fumes. Furley worked at the Bistro sometimes. Larry was a singer there too.
Nothing against the characters because both were really good but they definitely were leaned on more in the later years which sort of revealed they were out of ideas. Oh wait, we can have Jack take out Larry's sister. But was that not a recycled script from season 2? |

Personally, I just loved the later years.
