Default Kathryn Leigh Scott's DS books have errors. A lot of them!

One error comes in The DS Almanac 2000 when Brutus Collins is referred to as "Brutus Coolins". It's on either page 89 or 69. And that's just one example! She may not be a great editor but KLS is a sexy lady and talented actress.

What is your deal with errors in TV books? It's just an error . . . it's not gonna kill anyone or anything. I find her books to be quite enjoyable and just skip over the one or two errors I've seen in them.

Books that report real lfe events must be technically accurate to the letter or tragedy can occur. Like attributing the wrong thing to the wrong person. Barr Williams an Chris Kreski do this in their Growing Up Brady book when they credit Eric Shea with providing the voice of Linus in Peants cartoons when actually Chris Shea did. Pardon me while I get a DS example from Google.

Once the DS books claim ep#85 was directed by Lela Swift. Another time they claim John Sedwick(sp?) was the director of that ep. It was not directed by both people. One person is getting credit where none is due. Tragic!

Oh well! One or two factual errors in a book (and one or two typos) is better then no book at all. And this is not all the fault of KLS, that episode guide was written by Ann Wilson and is from another book entitled The Dark Shadows Program Guide. And it's not that tragic considering he gets crediting for other episodes so it's not like he only directed one episode and doesn't get any credit for his work on the series. I'd much rather have a book about DS by Kathryn Leigh Scott that has a few errors then no book at all. Wouldn't you? Or would you just overlook all of KLS' contributions to the DS publishing world and what she has written about her memories and just look at typographical errors (one or two that I've spotted in Dark Shadows Memories and I have not gotten the Almanac yet) and the factual errors (One I've noticed). KLS and her editors are humans and humans DO make mistakes.

Sean, I would rather have nobook on a subject than one mo0derately filled with errors. Another (sort of) mistake sexy and talented KLS makes in her books is the way she solely refers to her character of Josette as Josette Du Pres. Actually Josette originally had the last name of "La Freniere". KLS seemingly refuses to acknowledge her character once havng had another last name.

Most fans I know would rather have the book than nothing. The books are imformative. Most of the mistakes I've noticed are just spellingwise - not anything factual.

She never says Josette never HAD another name, now does she? She isn't referred to as La Freniere that much in the first place, they usually just called her Josette Collins before she got duPres as her last name.

Sean, it's pretty serious an error. KLS just seemingly refuses to learn and acknowledge that her character had another last name is. Exactly how many times LaFreniere is mentioned on DS is not important. Just the fact that it was mentioned is. Stuart Manning who helped write the DS Almanac 2000 emailed me and told me that hey've had to correct KLS's work many for big mistakes in her texts. She's not much of a writer or editor, truthfully.

<sarcasm> Yes. These errors are horrible! The world is going to end. *Screams in horror</sarcasm>

Whatever. I like my DS books the way they are. They are very informative and they supply a lot of information - the positives outnumber the negatives. If it is such a major error, why are you the only one who really cares about it? God, if you don't like her books don't buy them and sell the ones you have.

These books can't possibly include EVERYTHING about DS. Some things are going to be left out. duPres is far more important than LaFreniere, which is why its used in the books.

Also, the Almanac only gives her an editor's credit. It's obviously not just her fault these errors are in the work. They PAY people to look for errors.

Thumbs up

I Love Kathryn's books errors and all!

Prior to Kathryn's book, You could not find a more informative book on Dark Shadows. That's why she wrote her book.

I wonder if sexy and talented actress Kathryn Leigh Scott actually watched all the DS eps at least once or not. If not maybe that's why the LaFrenier mistake was never corrected because although it involved her character of Josette it was some other DS performer talking about the character having the last name of LaFrenier. If she's the editor of the book company she ought to hire beter people to check for messed up errors and she's sill kinda to blame for them. I once emailed her company and told them of the LaFrenier/Du Pres mistake. They never replied.

Another mistake in one of her books was the wrong date of death for David Ford (Sam Evans#2).

Not at all Mistress. We can call attention to any topic the moderators allow us to. I also thought I'd share more knowledge on this subject.
