Thumbs down New MacGyver TV series, but no Richard Dean Anderson

I'm a big MacGyver fan and I heard news about a new MacGyver TV series that is coming out in 2004.

I heard the new one goes something like the new MacGyver is MacGyver's nephew.

How on earth can MacGyver have a nephew when he was an only child? I'll like to see them explain that one!

Really I would rather settle for a TV MacGyver Movie with Richard Dean Anderson in it.

I would rather remember MacGyver in its original forum!

I thought it was gonna be just a movie, not series?
It's disappointing RDA won't star that's for sure.

But I guess it could be fun, think of the Young Indiana Jones, that turned out pretty good.

Maybe they should better do the Young MacGyver...

I posted the news about the new MacGyver movie. I got it off a Macgyver forum. I think they got it mixed up since a lot of 1980s popular TV programs are coming out in Big Screen Movies like DALLAS , Knight Rider, Miami Vice, and The A-Team (I been hearing this one for a long time).

I really don't think the "New MacGyver" thing will work. It might if they cast someone who as Anderson's looks and sex appeal. I got to say he was hot during his MacGyver days.

Anyway MacGyver had a son. What happened to him?

Any one know who the mother was? Was is Patricia McPherson character? As long as it isn't Penny Parker, which it can't since she meets MacGyver in 86 and his son was like 18 in 1992.

Just one question, I came across this on the Stargate SG - 1 forum. Is Richard Dean Anderson MacGyver on these commercials?

I really didn't understand what they were going on about there too, we were taking about guess stars at the time and a group of us brought up MacGyver's friends would be great on the Stargate, not to mention 2 of the Stargate cast were guess on MacGyver

This guy is named John Wiley. He's crazy and posts lies and stuff that makes no sense, he's been banned 4 times. He's alot like harper49. So I wouldn't trust him if I were you.

Variety reports that the WB has bought an updated version of the 80's action series "MacGyver." The new version, entitled "Young MacGyver," will focus on MacGyver's nephew, following the twentysomething hero as he leaves school and winds up joining the Phoenix Foundation. WB and Paramount plan to start casting for the new "Young MacGyver" shortly. It is set to hit U.S. screens in 2003.

A New MacGyver without Richard Dean Anderson?! That's crazy, He doesn't even have a nephew! Oh well, I'll still watch it. But i think it's gonna sink like lead balloon

I hate it when they do this kind of thing - "If we make the show about a kid, kids will watch it!" How patronising can you get? If any of you guys are teenagers, please tell me if that kind of marketing has ever worked with you?! I mean, most of us were kids when we first watched Macguyver, and did we mind that he was older than us?

How about The Young A-Team? Hannibal's newly discovered kids decide to fight crime. Young Simon And Simon - Rick and AJ's teenage sons carry on the detective agency. Young Remington Steele! Steele's young nephew becomes a con man...

Regardless of the fact that Mac only had a grandfather or something, it's just so silly... How about just showing repeats of the old show instead?

We're unlikely to get this show in the UK, so maybe I shouldn't grumble so much... but by the look of it I'm in a grumbly mood. Must be 'cause they haven't shown Macguyver over here since about 1990.
