I'm not talking about a simple dispute of opinions here, I mean when there's nothing you've had knowledge of your WHOLE LIFE and someone corrects you? lol
For e.g. on Facebook there was a discussion about the boy who plays Tommy in the movie Alice doesn't Live here anymore, and another boy plays Tommy in the TV show. I used to LIVE this show growing up and have always known for a fact, the kid who played Tommy in the movie also plays him in the pilot episode of Alice, and I pointed this out and someone was like, "Nope, the original kid was never in the TV show". Or like I remember Dick Van Dyke being a regular on the Carol Burnett Show from childhood as Harvey Korman's replacement, and way before they started releasing the season 11 episodes, I was pointing this out and someone was like, "No, you're just thinking of the many time Dick Van Dyke guest starred on her show!" Does this make anyone else rage? I mean it's beyond just a simple dispute. It's almost like me saying, "My favorite color is orange" and someone saying, "Nope, your favorite color is actually green!" |

Because if I'm on a tv forum and I'm explaining, for i.e., Dick Van Dyke replaced Harvey Korman in the 11'th season of the Carol Burnett Show, and someone responds to me, "Nope, Dick Van Dyke NEVER became a regular on the Carol Burnett Show, you're just misremembering because Van Dyke made a lot of guest appearances!" That's NOT just a difference of opinion, they are just WRONG lol
Then when you DEMONSTRATE they are wrong, by bringing the receipts, instead of saying what they SHOULD say, "Ooops, yeah I guess I was mistaken about that!" They instead double-down and ignore what you're showing them. Kinda hard not to be angry when someone shows that level of dishonesty, even if it's about a trivial issue |

The examples you cite are not an opinion thing--they're plain fact. I got into something like that on a TV show--it was on this site--the person said a show switched networks, and they were correct, but they got the wrong year. To answer your question, I wasn't angry--but I'll eventually cite sources like old TV listings to prove them wrong. On the other hand, I know an 88 year old woman who's wrong on a matter of fact (a building that's on a slab and she thinks it's on a crawl space.) Is it worth arguing about? Not really. |

I had a situation several years ago. I was in a historical society where i wanted to xerox a few papers. Near by was the machine and I sat at a table waiting for the the president of the club who was with another woman Sue fumbling with the machine. Toner problem, paper low, jam ups .
I must have waited 15 minutes. Anyway they finished and I asked is the machine alright to use?. the woman snapped. "We paid $500.00 for the machine, There is nothing wrong with it". I just said "I was mistaken, I thought I saw you and Sue struggling with the machine, But it appears I didn't see any of the problems. The woman huffed out the room, and the other table gals said " Don't let Alice bother you. I go the other way, and sometimes the critical person will feel a bit guilty. |
