Apparently this was featured on Unsolved Mysteries Volume 3: Abducted by a Parent.
Backstory: https://unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com/wiki/Rabia_Khalid https://denvergazette.com/news/crime...9dae91228.html "An abducted Louisiana boy who was kidnapped in Atlanta in 2017 was found by Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies during a burglary call last month. Abdul Aziz Khan, 14, was located safely on Feb. 23 within a Highlands Ranch subdivision, over seven years after he was last seen by family. Deputies found Khan and another unidentified younger boy with Rabia Khalid, 40, who was arrested on a kidnapping warrant. Elliot Blake Bourgeois, 42, was arrested with Khalid on kidnapping charges. Both are being held on $1 million bond. Khalid, who is Khan's non-custodial mother, allegedly kidnapped her son in November 2017 following a custody dispute with the father, according to the sheriff's office and the U.S. Marshals Service. “We’re overwhelmed with joy that Aziz has finally been found," Khan's family said in a statement. "We want to thank everyone for their support over the last seven years." Khan's family requested privacy "so that we can move forward as a family and heal together," according to the statement. Kidnapping suspects arrested, children found after five-hour interaction On Feb. 23 at around 3:37 p.m., Douglas County deputies responded to a burglary call to a home on Kelliwood Way in Highlands Ranch. Sheriff's Office officials said two people illegally entered a property that was vacant and listed for sale. Upon arrival, deputies contacted two children in a vehicle parked in the driveway. Moments later, both Khalid and Bourgeois allegedly exited the home "claiming to be associated with a realtor," according to the sheriff's office. "Their story began to unravel as the deputies and dispatchers worked for four hours to verify their identities," officials said, adding the two initially provided fake alias'. After a four-to-five hour interaction, deputies learned the identity of Khalid and arrested her on a felony kidnapping warrant. During this time, both of the children were watching TV in a neighbor's home, according to investigators. Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said at a news conference Wednesday if it wasn't for the for-sale homeowner monitoring their cameras and reporting the burglary, Khan would not have been found. Both Khan and the unidentified boy were found with no injuries and in good health, and are currently with protective services, according to Weekly. The U.S. Marshals Service assisted with the investigation. A spokesperson on Wednesday said the department searched 11 different states throughout the investigation. It is unclear what led Khalid and Khan to Colorado, according to Weekly, who said much of the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities lauded and thanked the national spotlight Khan's kidnapping received. Khan's kidnapping was highlighted in "Unsolved Mysteries Volume 3: Abducted by a Parent" on Netflix. "His family has a long road ahead of them, but our team is there for them," Weekly said. "We will walk with them step-by-step as they navigate this journey. We hope they find healing and hope in the days, weeks, months and even years ahead of them." |

Yes I heard about this the other day. I remember the episode well. Aziz’s father saying his mother had a very “strong” personality and that she “demanded what she wants.” Like she wasn’t going be that way with him? Way to go, dude. No wonder she violated the custody order and ran off with the kid. Did he honestly think she was going to live with NOT getting her way?
And that guy she ran off with… yuck! I’m glad the boy is safe. Hope he can have a healthy relationship with his dad. I’d love to see his mother and step-dad go to jail forever, though, not likely. |
