Don't quote me, but I believe the episode was in 1988, after TFOL ended. Again, not 100% certain.

No problem Jayman

Here is the episode description from TV Tome (and Nick at Nite):

When Buddy (WILLIE AAMES) receives word that his shy sister Bunny (MINDY COHN) is arriving for a visit, he pleads with Charles (SCOTT BAIO) to help entertain her. On arrival, however, she confesses to Buddy that she's in trouble and then disappears for several hours, reappearing as an outgoing "‘party girl." Charles finds Bunny drinking, thus revealing his suspicions to a skeptical Buddy that his sister is an alcoholic. It's only when Bunny "totals" Buddy's car, and nearly seriously injures the children that she finally admits her illness and agrees to seek help.

It's not that detailed, but I had to use this one because I suck at writing recaps, LOL.

I'll do the best I can with actual info on the show...

Charles in Charge ran on CBS for one season against Who's The Boss, a very similar program on ABC. Charles in Charge was cancelled after the first season. The show was sold into first run syndication, and for some reason, instead of bringing the old family back (reportedly, Julie Cobb who played Jill Pembroke refused to accept a lower salary... I have NO idea if this is true), so, they brought in a new family, the Powells. The show ran from 1984 - 1985, then came back in 1987 and ran from 1987 - 1990. A total of 5 seasons. Scott Baio (best know for his role as Chachi Arcola on "Happy Days") starred as Charles (we never learn his last name, as far as I know), with Willie Aames as Buddy Lembeck. Ellen Travolta, who played Chachi's mom on "Happy Days" joined the cast in the 2nd season as Lillian, Charles' overbearing and somewhat flighty mother, who constantly fills in for Ellen Powell (played by Sandra Kearns). Charles takes care of Sarah (Josie Davis), Jamie (Nicole Eggert) and Adam (Alexander Polinsky). James Callahan played Walter, Commander Powell's father. The children's father, Commander Powell, was only seen once in the series run. The original family was the Pembrookes, but the Powell's are more remembered.

Hope that's good, LOL.

Arrow Please Reply Shawn!

I just want to tell you this, Shawn, but Walter Powell was NOT Ellen's pop. It was Commander Powell's. And Commander Powell was never ever seen on the show.

Can you please post some pics of Mindy on "Charles In Charge" in 1988? Also, can you post some pics of the opening credits from the final season?

Well, I know Walter wasn't Ellen's dad, I probably meant to say father in law.

And yes, Commander Powell was seen once. Sarah was protesting, during her father's visit. I can't think of the name of the episode right now.

The pics should have been in my first post, I changed where I was hosting them, so I'll edit my post soon. I've never even seen the final season, so I couldn't help you, sorry.

He did. He did. He did appear on a episode. It was "No Nukes Is Good Nukes" in the 1988-1989 season. BTW, that was the season premiere.
