The U.S. hockey team beats Finland to win the gold medal. It’s a common misconception that they won it 2 days earlier by beating the Soviets, but they still needed to win this game.

Unlike the USA vs. Soviet Union game which was shown on tape delay at 8pm on ABC, the USA vs. Finland game was shown live at 11am. ABC aired only three of the seven Team USA's games in their entirety.

I was only 5 years old in 1980. I don't have any memories of watching it until years later.

I remember the night of the first game, the one they tied Sweden on a late Bill Baker goal with Jim Craig pulled, we were at an Islanders game that night.
