Scrabjan1has been missing exactly three years.

She seemed okay on her last days.

Makes you wonder why people just disappear.

Maybe the boomers have had enough of yesterday and have moved on.

Don't worry - this younger fan (I turn 40 next month) will make sure that yesterday never disappears. If anyone forgets, I will remind them. (I am a writer focused on the past, and vintage TV is one of my passions.)

There seems to be very little activity on this board these days. Are we losing interest in this TV classic? Are all the other show boards on this site similarly bereft of activity?

She was definitely a walking encyclopedia and has been missed on here. I guess sometimes people just lose interest. There's only so much to talk about shows from the 1950s and 1960s. There's not a lot of new information these days.

Sadly, some our long-time members have passed away in the last year or two. A surprising number of people pass away in their 50s and 60s.

I don't know how many younger people are watching Leave it to Beaver. I'm sure many of them have never posted on a forum. They only use social media.

My sister and I are planning to start a podcast for YouTube discussing individual episodes of classic shows (LITB, TAGS, and others). Currently researching how to produce a podcast. A few people here may also know about my screenplay tribute to 1950s television, still in development with a Hollywood studio. We have a prospective director but need to find funding.

Sadly true. I have not used Facebook in quite a while and don't know how much interest the classic shows get there.

Have you ever checked out Amazon Prime? They do a very good job of repackaging many of the classic shows with an appealing webpage, with handsome graphics and episode synopses, etc. LITB just got a new Blu-ray edition. The shows are definitely out there in the media environment and I wouldn't be surprised if people are discovering them.

Having just checked the TAGS board on this site, I note that it mostly consists of postings from one of the retro channels. Very little activity there either.

The Leave it to Beaver board on Facebook was quite active when i was on there last, several years ago--I imagine it still is, which makes think there's still a sizable fan base. Rusty Stevens, one of the few original cast member still with us, posted on there regularly, thru an admin.

They beat little things to death over there, like the missing back car window in the season six opening sequence. The organization of the site leads to a lot of repetition.

You can't say anything viewed as negative--it's immediately taken down. I imagine if you pile up a few of those comments you're kicked off.

I don't agree with that; even fans of a show can tend to pick apart little details--I remember lot of that type thing when the TV Land boards were still active.

I agree that Scrabjan1 has always been a very knowledgeable and insightful poster, especially involving discussions regarding LITB.

I recall that Scrabjan1 thought that June Cleaver should have caught some heat (but never apparently did) for carelessly and thoughtlessly tossing the get-rich-book Beaver had bought for Ward into the family “cookie drawer” in the kitchen for Beaver to find. It was very rare to see June act so insensitively towards her younger son.

Another time, Scrabjan1 pointed out what a boorish dolt George Haskell was when he was delighted to tell Ward about how he had seen Wally and the Beaver squirm on the train when they told the conductor that they had mistakenly spent the money intended for their train tickets.

Scrabjan1 opined that she wished Ward had said to the guffawing Fred, “Well, as a longtime friend to our family, why didn’t YOU offer to pay the boys’ train fare?” Scrabjan1 pointed out that if Ward or June had observed Eddie or Lumpy Rutherford in a similar predicament on that train, that Ward or June would have intervened in their behalf and offered to pay for Eddie or Lumpy’s tickets.

Scrabjan1 always came up with many other unique and interesting perspectives on the show. However, to be quite frank, the Sitcoms Online site has hardly been a hotbed of informed activity for some time. In fact, it’s recently been about as “lively” as a wake at the Fisher & Sons Funeral Home on HBO’s Six Feet Under.

Maybe Scrabjan1 decided why should I take the time and effort to post a comment or entire thread on this site when hardly anyone (or even no one at all) bothers to respond to what I have written?

Sadly, I think that may be why we see so little here from so many of the outstanding and formerly prolific posters on the Sitcoms Online site.

I am still new to some of the old shows so I rewatch them and have some interest in them. Others have seen them many times and could be bored talking about them. You can always tell what I am watching because I post about it. Soon, I won't because I have watched them enough and asked all the questions that I have about them.

Good points in the last 2 posts. Cycle back 2 or 3 years and the LITB board hummed with activity.

I had wondered about Scrabjan1 but she did post on the Griffith alphabet game a few weeks ago.

Another subject I remember discussing when she was on here, was the fourth season closing episodes, Substitute Father, just on MeTV today. In this episode an extra by the name of Arthur trips Beaver in the school hall, and Beaver says a bad word, which is covered by a school bell ringing.

Many will comment, trying to figure out what he said. Either Scrabjan1 or I, or both of us, commented on Miss Landers' only concern: Beaver's bad word. What about the boy who tripped him? No punishment for him?

And why wouldn't Beaver say, Hey, what about Arthur? He tripped me, is he gonna get away with that?

It may be that former posters, in large part, have gravitated toward Facebook groups of people who share their specific interests. I've never joined Facebook or took part in Instagram, though sometimes I'll "borrow" images originally posted there for my odd and often lewd (if not lascivious) music adaptations. In fact, just yesterday I was thinking about trying to come up with a song I could apply to images of Tony Dow and Cheryl Holdridge from LItB.

I used to get into some pretty good discussions at the former IMDb message boards, and one thing there was that it would be more likely an actor would join in on occasion. I had some posts where I was able to talk with Amanda McBroom and Pam Stone, so that was fun.

If I decide to leave S.O. or really limit how much I post, it will likely be due to how many negative threads pop up, where a show and its people are not treated fairly. I'm also aware that some online users don't appreciate being corrected, even though they've made a factual error. The writer of My Three Sons synopses at TV.com made a clear error as to which character did what in an episode, but when I pointed it out to him, he stubbornly refused to make the correction.

This is one of my favorite sites; in the past, I enjoyed the "Scenery of the Ponderosa" site based on Bonanza and "Linda's Petticoat Junction" site. You can really learn so much about a series when the participants are big fans. I tend to follow certain actors and want to see all of their work: Veronica Cartright, Yvonne Craig, Sherry Jackson, and others. From there I'll sometimes find myself "hooked" on a series.

So maybe she will chime in later. But the older shows have not had the traffic that they used to.
