Did they ever go meta and reference fake Jan being fake?

Never. She was always Jan. I think they hoped the casual viewer would not notice

The thing that made the Variety Hour unique is the cast always stayed in Brady character. Other variety shows like Cher and Donny and Marie had many segments of their real identity and only went into character for skits. The Bradys acted like a real family in and out of skits.
