Do you think TC could have made it after Chrissy left with just Janet and Jack? There are some with Cindy where she is hardly in it all, like the case of the missing blonde, and its a good one, and the one about the party does not even have Terri in it much. Could Joyce and John have carried the show alone with other supporting cast?

I most certainly think Three's Company could have gone on without Chrissy. I tend to find the episodes with Jack, Janet, and Larry very funny. They all three were great in A CROWDED ROMANCE, were Don Knotts and Suzanne Somers out of the story. It's kind of a switch with two guys and a girl rather than two girls and a guy. Do you realize that CHRISSY'S COUSIN, the episode after Chrissy's first phone call ROOM AT THE BOTTOM was rated better? And that THE CASE OF THE MISSING BLONDE, possibly Jack and Janet's best teamwork other than UP IN THE AIR, was the best ranked episode of Season Five? Even with Terri in the picture, the writers it seemed wrote more for Jack and Janet than what they had written in the past.

You are right. The whole idea of the show was farce and misunderstanding and you can do with two people, especially as good as janet and jack were. Besides, we would have seen more of the supporting cast and I think that would have been a good thing as well.

the show's premise was about a guy living with two girls and the only way it was allowed by the landlord was to lie and say the guy was gay and therefore nothing sleazy might go on in the apartment. i think that the show had to stay with that concept (depite the lack of stories with Cindy and Terri) ad so i don't think it would survive with just Jack and Janet as room-mates. i liked Larry, the Roper's, and Mr. Furley and i don't understand why Don Knotts is always under-rated when it comes to this show. he was on the show LONGER than the Ropers but nobody talks about him that often!?

Well, this is an interesting topic. Janet and Jack were the ones who had the great chemistry between them. Jack had litteraly no chemistry with Chrissy. He just made jokes about her breasts the time, nothing a friend would say. Jack and Cindy worked at times [like w/ the ironing board], but Cindy was shown so little, it seemed as though Jack and Cindy had never met. Jack and Terri's chemistry was flatter than pancakes. Janet had no chemesitry with the others either, other than Jack. BUT...if it were only Jack and Janet, the show would not have had the great sex-jokes, AND the set would overall seem underpopulated. I'd say that if they had started out with only Jack and Janet, it would've worked greatly, but if they had dropped a third roommate and changed it to Two's Company, it probably wouldn't have worked. But then again, there may have been more chance of Jack and Janet getting married at the end of the series rather than her getting married to Mr. GroceryStore there.
