when you get your books, you are just going to fall in love with one of the pictures. the baby picture is soooooooooo cute, he was 3 and a half months old, he was holding his head up with his left hand looking to the right with a HUGE smile and you can't see any teeth . i can't wait for you all to see it. then another picture of him, in 1960, he is in the drivers seat waving (so cute). and another cute one, he is sitting on the floor and getting ready to watch Zorro.another picture, he is in puerto rico for his birthday and he is standing up and he has on shades (so cute and cool).

i am reading on his childhood right now. the way that freddie's mother maria tells the story is sooooooooo humorous, i see where he got his sense of humor from and looks.
in one part of the story, his mother says this about freddie at 4 years old below:
And i thought of the local cartoon program, Hercules," which Freddie also liked. And of how he'd call Trans-Lux, the studio which produced it. He'd ring them up at least once a week. One day I got a phone call. "you're the mother of Freddie?" the program director asked. "Your son has been calling us regularly. It's gotten so around here people are saying, Has Freddie called this week?' He tells us he's four years old. You've got a bright boy, Mrs. Pruetzel."
"He is smart," I said.
"Well, we'd like to have him come to the studio so we can talk with him on camera, if you can bring him here."
After I hung up the phone I went to Freddie's room. "The Hercules people called just now, and they want you to be on the show." Freddie's big brown eyes got bigger. He smiled at me, and then to my surprise he said, "No, Ma. Tell them I'm not ready yet. I'm too young for that. I'm scared.
Show buisness would have to wait until my son grew up.

so you see how smart freddie was at such an early age. he was sooooooooooo smart. he didn't call the television station, he called the company that produces the show.Wow! how smart

Thanks for sharing that with us Tracy - it brings tears to my eyes! Yes, Freddie was very smart in every way but ONE - using those drugs that made him take his life too early!

he took a taxi every where he went nce he said, i will take you to the subway, you don't have to do that his mother said, it is a nice night, we can walk but freddie being a taxi freak we took a cab, he left me at the subway, okay ma you go home and i'll stay downtown. and off he went. the subway was only two blocks away.
