Default CHCH Spring 2025

CHCH TV has made a few changes to its afternoon schedule starting this week. "Three's Company" has moved to 3:30 pm while "The Facts Of Life" is at 3. The big change involves "Mad About You" which will now run back-to-back episodes at 2 and 2:30 pm. CHCH normally does this when a series is near the end of its run, yet "Mad About You" still has 2 full seasons to go before it ends. I'm thinking one of those 2 time slots could get filled up soon but not for at least a couple of weeks. The morning group remains unchanged for now. "I Dream Of Jeannie" is about to enter its final season (the one where Jeannie and Tony get married) so there's another change to watch for around mid-March. I'll have more updates once I learn what else might be happening.

Oh No

In a surprise move CHCH is going to be airing a new daytime CBS soap in the 2pm slot called "Beyond the Gates" starting on Mon Feb 24. "Mad About You" is not on the schedule beginning on that day.

A new soap has really caught my attention. I used to watch soaps for years and gave up on them. As you probably know, there are only 4 left. The soap opera industry was dead. The newest of the remaining 4 premiered in 1987.

That being said, with this soap being added, it means even less classic TV. I could accept this show being added if 1. classic TV shows were back on from 5-6 and 2. Matlock was finally gone.

It is surprising that a network would introduce a new soap when so many have come and gone over the years. But CBS must like their ratings with Y&R and B&B so maybe they'll have success with this new soap too.

More surprising is that CHCH would air the new soap right in the middle of the retro block. They already took the 5-6 hour away & now this hour as well. Not happy that they're removing Mad About You before airing all the episodes either.

Looks like "Mad About You" is back on CHCH starting Monday March 3 with 2 episodes airing from 12pm to 1pm, replacing "The Avengers."

The first episode of "Mad About You" is also scheduled to air on Saturday March 1 at 8pm...wonder if that's going to be a regular thing or if it's just a filler.

I agree with you. The soap opera being added at 2 pm is a really dumb idea. I like '"Mad About You" at noon except that I would have liked to see something else join it at 12:30 instead of having back-to-back episodes.

Guess what? It won't be the only sitcom being shown in March that will get the double play treatment. On Wednesday, March 5, "Knight Rider" will be airing its last episode at 4 pm. The next day, Thursday, March 6, "Newsradio" will return to the lineup at 4 and 4:30 pm. How long it will last is anybody's guess.

When CHCH doubles up on episodes it feels like they're trying to finish off the series quickly, but these days many other channels air 2 episodes of most of their 1/2 hour comedies so maybe CHCH has decided to try the same thing. And Newsradio coming back is great news - I do hope they air the show to the end of the series.

Saw a clip of this new soap and couldn't get through it, there is a reason why soaps started fading away years ago, CBS airing a new soap is quite a shock.

Yes, it will be a regular thing. The first season of "Mad About You" will be seen on Saturdays at 8:00 pm followed by the first season of "NewsRadio" at 8:30. Those will be the only retro additions to the weekend schedule for now.

While it starts again on the weekends, "Mad About You" will be ending soon on weekdays. It will resume again at noon from Season 2 onwards since Season 1 is now on Saturdays. It will be on after "I Dream Of Jeannie" which will end next week and will then start again from the first episode to the end. Other than that, don't expect any more changes for now. The new episodes will begin next Thursday March 20.

To be honest I liked it better when CHCH would air a retro show to the end and then replace it with a different retro show.

CHCH will be making a temporary schedule change this week. When they announced that a new soap opera "Beyond The Gates" will take over the 2 PM time slot, they also agreed to simulcast it with CBS. When the show gets pre-empted, like it will be later this week for the March Madness tournament, other arrangements have to be made. So with that in mind, this Thursday and Friday, CHCH will rerun the first season of "The Facts Of Life" by showing the first 4 episodes Thursday and Friday at 2 and 2:30 pm followed by another episode at its regular time. On Monday afternoon, "Beyond The Gates" returns permanently at 2 pm. You take the good, you take the bad...

Hello everyone, pretty soon, Hogan Heroes, Odd Couple and Three’s Company will be gone soon. Does anyone knows what replacing these shows soon? I was hoping CHCH put either, Fall Guys, Dallas, Eight is Enough, Happy Days, Jefferson, All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore, Duke of Hazards, Chips, Kojak, Street of San Francisco, Full House, Step By Step, Family Matter, Hogan Family, Growing Pain, Night Court, T.J. Hooker and Charlie’s Angels.

I know what will replace those shows and the answer is - are you ready? - none of the above!

"Three's Company" will end on April 25 and begin again from Season 1 the following Monday April 28 at its regular time of 3:30 pm. On the same day, the lunch hour will look a lot different. It won't be better, just different. This is how it breaks down:

12:00 PM MAD ABOUT YOU - Now down to only one episode per day instead of two.

12:30 and 1:00 SILVER SPOONS - Replaces "Hogan's Heroes" in the lineup and "Mad About You" in the double play department.

1:30 FAMILY TIES - Replaces "The Odd Couple" in the lineup. The first episode that will be shown once it returns will be "Keaton & Son".

Everything else remains unchanged. Sorry guys!

I like Family Ties, but they stopped it back in October to make room for Knight Rider. Now I don't care that they will be continuing where they left of. I'm used to FT being on at 4pm or 4:30 pm, not at 1:30 pm.

Since CHCH started showing classic TV, this year is the least that I am interested in their lineup.

I predict that when Matlock end its run that it will be replaced by another run of Matlock.

"Beyond The Gates", the soap opera from hell that nobody asked for, will be taking another week off starting today before returning again next Monday. Just like I mentioned above, "The Facts Of Life" will be showing episodes from Season 1 at 2:00 and 2:30 pm for the rest of the week. "Beyond The Gates" will be pre-empted by CBS for Champions League Soccer action, another programming move which I see as being totally unnecessary.
