ABC Orders a Full Season of 'Lopez' - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Comedies continue to prosper on ABC.

The network has given "George Lopez" a full season commitment. The sitcom now joins fellow ABC comedies "8 Simple Rules," "Life With Bonnie" and "Less Than Perfect" in receiving a pick up order.

Since its second season debut on Oct. 2, "George Lopez" has ranked first in total viewers and Adults 18 to 49 in its time period. The series is also retaining 100 percent of its young adult lead in from "My Wife and Kids" Adult 18-49 audience.

"Since its mid-season premiere last year, 'George Lopez' has developed into a terrific performer for ABC," says Susan Lyne, president of ABC Entertainment. "Its dominance Wednesday nights at 8:30 - - and its retention of the 'Wife and Kids' lead-in each week - - has helped solidify our comedy strength on the night."

"George Lopez" is produced in part by actress Sandra Bullock ("Murder by Numbers," "Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood" ) and stars George Lopez, Belita Moreno ("Perfect Strangers"), Constance Marie ("American Family," "Union Square"), Masiela Lusha, Luis Armand Garcia and Valente Rodriguez ("Erin Brockovich" ).

The show airs Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
