1979 Waldbaum's Supermarket commercial with Wayne Knight

If you're from New York chances are you might've heard of the supermarket chain Waldbaum's. Way before starring in Seinfeld as the wisecracking Newman Wayne Knight starred in a 1979 commercial for Waldbaum's and it appears to be his very first commercial in history. When you first watch the commercial Wayne can be seen as a meat butcher promoting Waldbaum's meat department. It makes me wonder if Wayne Knight actually worked at Waldbaum's as a meat butcher before becoming famous as an actor and that's how he got discovered on the road to stardom? Wayne Knight appears to be around 20 when this commercial was made. As for Waldbaum's itself it no longer exists in New York today but Wayne Knight's commercial career took off when he later did a Dawn Dishwashing Liquid commercial in 1989 "which I also did a thread on in this board"
