Your favorite flavored Doritos tortilla chips

For last couple of months I been tasting variety of Dorito chips from the store, and here is my thoughts on the ones I tasted.

Nacho Cheese Flavored Chips: This is the standard chip everybody is familiar with neutral flavor that goes good with parties. Will give this 6 out of 10 points.


BBQ Flavored Chips: This was alright chips, but to me little bit too sweet. May that is because I am not big fan of BBQ sauce. 4 out of 10 points


FLAMIN’ HOT COOL RANCH Flavored Chips: Just too many spices with this chips. The cool ranch flavor just over power everything. 5 out of 10 points.


COOL RANCH® Flavored Chips: I find flavor with this chips very muted. This is also a party chips as not everybody might like other bold flavored variety. 4 out of 10 points.


Spicy Sweet Chili Flavored Chips: I didn't care too much for flavor of this chips. It tasted like it was dip in sweet&Sour sauce and then baked. 3 out 10 points.


FLAMIN’ HOT Limon Flavored Chips: This was the saltiest and spiciest of the group, and it is loaded with too much seasoning. This will definitely give a person heart burn if eaten more than a few chips. 2 out of 10 points.


Spicy Nacho Flavored Chips: This was kind of middle ground spicey for a person that like their chips little bit spicey, but not too overwhelming. 6 out of 10 points.


FLAMIN’ HOT Nacho Flavored Tortilla: This was may favorite of all the chips I tasted as I like somewhat spicey food. It got a kick to it that simulate the tase bud, but doesn't overwhelm. 8 out of 10 points.


Taco Flavored Tortilla Chips: This is the grandfather of them all as this was the original flavored chip Doritos brought to market as you can tell by its retro looking packaging. Couldn't find it at store, so this was left out.

My mother LOVES Doritos and they are her go-to snack when she's watching TV or doing work and my mom's favorite Doritos are the Nacho Cheese Doritos and the Cool Ranch Doritos and when we go to the store to get the assortment of chips of Frito-Lay I always make sure that there is Doritos for Mom. Dad likes the original taco flavored Doritos and can usually eat a whole bag

My favorite Doritos chips are no longer made: 3Ds

They were from late-1990s to sometime in the mid-2000s. These were my go to snack during my high school years and I was bummed to see these go.

They were relaunched a few years ago, but they are not the same as the original ones.







My favorite ones now are the Spicy Garlic from Taiwan.

My neighborhood is majority Chinese and they have stores around that sell all of these imported snacks. They have a lot of kinds that are not sold in the U.S.

Thanks guys. Looks like nacho cheese flavored chips is to go to chip for most people here. And it is probably the one that been around longer than other flavor. Even TacoBell restaurant utilize it on some of their menu items such as Locos Taco where taco shells are made of nacho cheese Doritos.

Taco flavored chips seem to be getting few nods too, but they are hard to find. So may have to look around to see if I can find one to give it a taste taste.

Spicey Garlic sound interesting and like to try some. But I'm kind of wary of "time sensitive" imported snacks that have short time expiration date (like 2 to 3 months). I mean by the time they package it and ship it overseas to US, half of by-expiration-date have passed.

Yeah, I haven't seen them in years . They are the original though right? Than came Nacho cheese , than Cool Ranch.

As much as I love Nacho cheese Doritos , I like Cool Ranch a little better. But it's close! Both are delicious !

According to Wikipedia, taco-flavored Doritos was the first flavored Dorito chips introduced in 1969, followed by nacho cheese-flavored Doritos in 1972. And Cool Ranch was introduced in 1986. So I guess we can call the Taco flavored Doritos "The Big Daddy"

Also according to Chip Industry insiders, Doritos Nacho Cheese is the best-selling Doritos flavor, while Doritos Cool Ranch is the most popular flavored tortilla chip in the US. And my favorite Doritos Flamin' Hot Nacho is the brand's fastest-growing flavor.
