Why was the Lori Beth character still on the show and Richie was gone? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I saw a Happy Days Episode today on TV LAND and Lori Beth was in the episode when Potise was moving back to his parents garage. Potise also was introduced to Lori Beth's friend and I was wondering why was she still on the show and her boyfriend Richie was gone?

Yeah Lori Beth on HD without Richie is really weird-do you know if Jenny Picalo was still on Happy Days when Joanie and Chachi left the show in 1982?

I'm glad that LoriBeth was still on but they could not find anything for her to really do, the same with Potsie.

She was kept on to keep a link to Richie when he was off the show. She wrote back and forth to him and they got engaged. Later she gave birth to his baby. All this kept Richie on the show in some capacity even if TECHNICALLY he wasn't there.

She stayed on the show because she was Richie's fiance. She couldn't go to Greenland with him cause they weren't married yet.

The main point is-She was taking up space on the show since Richie wasn't there. Richie didn't come back until the 1983-84 season-so was Lori Beth on the show up until then? I hope not because that would really be WACKY.

No, she atcually left in 1982, but came back in 1983 when Rich and Ralph came back
