Default GSN March 10 Schedule: America Says Afternoons, Match Game Gone from Weeknights

Unfortunately it won't be the classic Alex Trebek version, Trebekardy would get big ratings if GSN were willing to air it instead of just sitting in Sony's vault. GSN will be airing select season 39 episodes of Jeopardy! hosted by Ken Jennings weeknights in the 9PM hour where Wheel of Fortune is. The article I found seems to say Wheel of Fortune is gone from primetime and will only be airing in the 2PM hour now. There is another missed opportunity to air the long time syndication companions back-to-back. But Family Feud's forever hold on 10PM-1AM they probably won't touch. Leading into Jeopardy! in the 8PM hour weeknights will be The Wall, which replaces Press Your Luck. That is all I know of the January 13 changes so far. But a problem with Jennings Jeopardy! in the 9PM hour, that is where Celebrity Jeopardy will be airing its new season starting next week. ABC will probably ask GSN to air something else there on Wednesdays, like when Press Your Luck couldn't air on Thursdays with ABC's new episodes.

Alex's version of Jeopardy! will air after all, with a single episode at 2PM. On the 13th it is Ken Jennings' first regular show as a contestant. But it won't have a full hour, another airing of Switch is being added at 2:30PM. Wheel of Fortune's 2PM hour moves an hour earlier to 1PM. The afternoon hour of classic Match Game will be gone, but it remains at 6AM.

I am assuming GSN will air the complete Ken Jennings run from when he was a contestant. But after Monday the 13th's description of his first regular show as a contestant, there are no specific descriptions for Tuesday-Thursday's episodes yet.

The rapid scaling back of America Says continues. After this week, for the first time it won't be on the weekday lineup at all. Its sole 1:30AM airing left is being replaced by Wheel of Fortune, which will also air at 12:30AM slightly reducing Family Feud. Flip Side will remain at 1AM separating the Wheel of Fortune episodes. America Says is also being cut on weekends, will start an hour later 10AM-12PM. Wheel of Fortune will air in the 9AM hour on Saturdays, and Jeopardy! will take that hour on Sundays.

Ken Jennings will be competing against himself. Jeopardy's primetime hour on GSN will still air on Wednesdays where ABC has Celebrity Jeopardy!

GSN aired an ad combining three shows: The Wall coming Monday, the Tic Tac Dough revival, and Bingo Blitz. No premiere dates announced for the future originals, Tic Tac Dough has already been postponed several months but at least they are still planning on airing it.

Ugh! The Alex Trebek hosted Ken Jennings contestant run will continue in Jeopardy's Sunday morning hour from where it leaves off Friday afternoon. So not all of it will be in the 2PM weekday slot. They should have just given it a full hour like Wheel of Fortune has afternoons.

GSN actually aired full closing credits on Jeopardy! It did come after an ad break.

I assumed GSN would be airing all of The Wall. Today's blog said it would be airing the entire 1st season which is just 10 episodes. That would leave 79 unaired episodes from all the other seasons which were much longer.

Both segments of single Jeopardy showed up fine today, like GSN usually does. But double Jeopardy reception was hideous with very poor picture and bad sound. It was back to normal by final Jeopardy.

Johnny Gilbert shouldn't have stopped announcing how many days Ken Jennings has won. Alex Trebek doesn't say it at the end either. Also, Game Show Network needs to fix their reception problems for good. A few spots today where it was terrible again, yesterday as well but then it wasn't until after Jeopardy!

Jeopardy clue: gardening tool that is also the term for an immoral, pleasure seeking person. Ken's response: hoe (correct word was rake).

Starting Monday GSN is shuffling a bunch of shows afternoons-evenings with a trashy one leaving weeknights and a popular original's return to weekdays.
6AM-2:30PM remains the same with Trebekardy! still at one solitary 2PM airing, they still won't give it a full hour. The main changes to weekdays

2:30PM Master Minds replaces Switch
3PM America Says replaces Master Minds
3:30PM America Says replaces Master Minds
4PM Switch replaces Chain Reaction
4:30PM Split Second- still having something separate the John Michael Higgins shows, they have never aired together
5PM Flip Side
5:30PM Chain Reaction replaces Beat the Bridge
6PM Beat the Bridge 2x replaces Match Game (Alec Baldwin)

7PM-12:30AM remains the same.
The sandwich from 12:30-2AM has been removed. Flip Side moves to 12:30 with both late night Wheel of Fortune episodes back-to-back in the 1AM hour.

Weekend changes coming in next post

Weekends remain the same from 9AM-2PM and the six straight hours of Family Feud from 10PM-4AM remains the same.

Afternoon-Primetime Weekend Changes starting March 15
2-4PM Cash Cab replaces Split Second at 2:00, back to a full two hours for Cash Cab.
4-5PM People Puzzler finally gets a decent hour replacing Beat the Bridge.
5PM hour remains Family Feud.
6PM The Chase replaces Family Feud 2x
7PM Match Game (Alec Baldwin) replaces Switch and Split Second, which are both gone from weekends.
8PM Press Your Luck (current Elizabeth Banks version) replaces Card Sharks which is totally off the schedule.
9PM Deal or No Deal replaces The Chase

April 14 is when the Tic Tac Dough revival and Bingo Blitz have their series premieres as well the new season of Beat the Bridge. They are advertising new episodes of Beat the Bridge at 6:30, Tic Tac Dough at 7:00, and Bingo Blitz at 7:30. It is too bad the new shows aren't waiting for the first week of May when my orchestra season is over. It would also be nice for Tic Tac Dough and Bingo Blitz to have an encore in the midnight hour, they need it more than Flip Side which is borrowed from locals. But I am glad Tic Tac Dough is at 7:00, against Wheel of Fortune which sucks with Ryan Seacrest. I won't be seeing much of Bingo Blitz with it on against Jeopardy!.
