Default So I lost my job

I know, it's been a while since I have been here. Been so busy working and working on my clinical license for counseling. However it's been horrible the last year. I can't remember if I shared my issues with my previous job but I liked it there until I got a nasty evil boss who lied about me to get me fired. Because I knew this was happening I took another job before it could happen. So my new employer (started October 2023) seemed better at first, including running IOP groups virtual (and they allowed me to work from home). All great until things started changing. They started to cram my schedule with intakes non-stop, including for other people. Meanwhile I couldn't schedule my own people. Also, not to get political but most of the kids were on probation for very serious crimes (one was aggravated sexual assault). This affected teens who truly needed help (I am a drug counselor). I would get angry because most of the probation teens never showed up and ended up being discharged while those who wanted help appeared. In addition to this, the company treated us like crap, no raises or bonuses and we had to use PTO for holidays, of which we got few. I got mad because they wanted me to work Christmas Eve until night, I took it off and they refused to allow this. Just a lot of junk.

Anyway a few months ago the inpatient facility (which I do not work at, I live about 100 miles away) sent me an intake to complete. They could have done it, there are 6 counselors there but nope. I stated I was packed but the supervisor got nasty and told me I had to do what she said (never met her btw). My supervisor spoke to me about it because she reported me to HR, saying next time let him know. I said I would, and I didn't know she was a supervisor. This was in August. The week before Thanksgiving the HR director did a virtual meeting with me and said I am supposed to do whatever any supervisor said. I told her I was doing three jobs (in addition to counseling and intakes, I also did case management) and couldn't. She then told me the company comes first and I am supposed to work even if I am off, and come in to do my work. Long story short they put me on "unpaid leave" and while applying for jobs got a notice they placed my job! Oh and they canceled my insurance before I spoke to her so this was planned.

Don't feel sorry for me though, since that time I had 5 interviews and have several more scheduled in January. I had an offer last February and wish I took it. This job put a strain on me, I gained weight due to stress and have very blood pressure. Had I stayed I would probably be dead.

You should speak to a labor attorney. They may have violated state laws. Most labor attorneys will give you one free consultation. You have nothing to lose.

About blood pressure--of course stress will raise it, but I've learned a lot about the problem recently. There is sodium in virtually ALL food.

So it's not just a matter of putting away the salt shaker. It's also checking the sodium content of all foods, especially fast food. I will say (and it's fact if you check the nutrition information the large chains must put out) one of the worst for sodium is Chick Fil-A.
