Hi there, more recent fan of Ozzie and Harriet here (found it through my love of Ricky's music, of course; but the show itself is very good of course), but anyway, I'm working on a project of sorts, and I want to know if anyone could possibly provide me with a compete list of all songs performed by Ricky on the show in order, with the episode title and air date?

Once singing within episodes starts with "Ricky, the Drummer" on 4.10.1957, songs are listed with the episode date and title. However, while this is a very good reference, the book is not 100% accurate. I found a few songs that were listed as being on an episode, but clearly were not. In reverse, I found some songs within shows, but they were not listed as being on the episodes. A popular auction site has the most reasonably priced book I saw when searching to see if it was still available. |

I think that book is the best resource so far. There was also one published back in the 90's in the UK with a list of Rick's songs on the show, but it was far from complete. I made my own list while I was watching the DVD's a couple years ago, maybe I should put that online.

One problem with using the DVDs for research on that, is that Ozzie sometimes subbed a different song on a summer rerun. This wouldn't show up on the DVD (and if the rerun was used as a source for the DVD, the reverse would happen.) |

Indeed, there were some rerun episodes that were used on the DVDs, which were not noted on the inserts. These edited episodes were likely to promote one of Rick's new releases. They either edited out some scenes to make room or edited out the song that had been in the original broadcast. One episode is "David's Date with Miss Universe." In the original episode David sings, "I want a Girl, Just like the Girl..." with Miss U. The DVD version has this duet cut to make room for Rick singing at the end. The duet with David and Miss U was so much better than the silly song left in by the Four Preps. Also, edited in the episode was background music in a restaurant going from violin music to an instrumental version of "Moon River." Original "The Road Race" did not have "Travelin' Man" at the end like the episode on the DVD. The Millcreek DVD set has the original full length episode. |
