Default Have Christmas commercials changed differently than the ones from the past?

I have been noticing that Christmas commercials have now changed differently and I seem to think it's now a fad that these Christmas commercials are different than ones from the past and this is the new way of today's Christmas commercials? Take for instance I noticed that Target has new holiday commercials that seem to be movie-like with the song Pure Imagination as it's holiday theme song and when I saw this commercial it was surprising that Target is making their Christmas commercials like this now. A second store that has done this is Walmart and they have not just Christmas commercials but the commercials have become mini movies with titles such as Santa's Reindeer Ride and The Magic Surprise and how Walmart is making money with these Christmas commercials i'll never figure out why? And the same thing with Macy's and I cannot figure out why Macy's chose Alison Brie and Matt Bush to promote their Christmas commercials this year but these new Macy's commercials for Christmas are way too over the top and look like something out of the Apple TV movie Spirited. Where's the classic Christmas commercials like the famous Peter Comes Home For Christmas commercial from Folgers the iconic Hershey Kisses Holiday commercial the M&M's Christmas commercial and the classic Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup commercial with the snowman? Those commercials should've been revived in new versions for new generations to see. About the only commercial that got revived this year was the famous Coca-Cola Holidays Are Coming commercial and I think these odd Christmas commercials are what's to come in the future

I think the main reason why Christmas commercials have changed today is because in reality Christmas gets overhyped from the time November begins to Thanksgiving and by the time December comes people are so tired of seeing Christmas commercials getting overplayed that they get tired of it completely. I remember when Christmas commercials were big in the 50's 60's 70's 80's and 90's until the 2000's and once the 2000's ended Christmas commercials started to go downhill. This year's Christmas commercials are disappointing and some do not make sense at all. Take for example Sprite's Christmas commercials always seem to have rap artists and what does rap music have to do with Christmas? M&M's new Christmas commercial is a fine mess too and they should've shown the classic 90's M&M's commercial instead. Even the stores do not promote Christmas as much as they used to anymore? It used to be that stores would promote Christmas sales and would remind people of holiday gift ideas. I found a CVS commercial from 1987 that promoted a Christmas sale and it reminded me of how Christmas used to be promoted. I know that as the years go by Christmas will change it's image and Christmas commercials will continue to be different but they should make good Christmas commercials again like they used to

I also think why today's Christmas commercials are different is because they no longer have a family image. Take for instance if you look at Christmas commercials today they focus on boyfriends getting their girlfriends engagement rings and almost every jewelry store's Christmas commercials focus on this and I can't figure it out? Is it because engagement rings are popular gifts for Christmas or is it because December has become a popular wedding month? And when you watch Christmas commercials for cars you always see families getting new cars as Christmas gifts and it makes me think cars are always the big family Christmas gift. And now the only time you see family oriented Christmas commercials today is restaurant commercials and Olive Garden is sure promoting Christmas a lot by having Christmas commercials. And when I see these new Christmas commercials I think "is this the way Christmas is being promoted now?" I remember when Hallmark Cards used to have lots of Christmas commercials that were nice and they would promote their new ornaments every year and grocery store Christmas commercials used to promote families sitting at the table together eating Christmas dinner while promoting sales of hams and turkeys for Christmas. But some classic Christmas commercials need to make a comeback like the classic Bounty Paper Towels Christmas commercial from 1994/95 and the Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup commercial with the snowman and Coca-Cola should bring back it's classic Christmas polar bears commercials too instead of bringing new Christmas commercials and making them different each year
