The TV vet, best known as Barney Miller's Wojo, will play an old hippie named Merle who helps Shawn (Brandon Beemer) and Belle (Martha Madison). He airs on January 26."

Interesting trend! First Hal Linden on Bold and the Beautiful, now this. Can't wait to see it!

I'll have to tape this, I'd also like to see him. The guy who played Gary Ewing
on Knotts Landing had a part on the Young and Restless recently.

He did a one-day guest spot as an old hippie, Merle, who gave the characters of Shawn and Belle (who kidnapped their baby from her ex-husband, the baby's legal father who thought HE was the biological dad, etc.) refuge at his safe house in Canada. I thought it amusing that this burned out guy kept mentioning being a draft dodger during 'Nam, when Max Gail's signature character Wojo, of course, was a Marine who served in 'Nam. Anyway, it was fun seeing Mr. Gail in a role that was sort of a departure for him.
