Default What Happened to "In the Soup"?

It should be on now--but MeTV appears to have skipped it.

Suddenly some problem with this episode? It's probably the most well-known episode of the whole series.

I'm watching LITB now and it's the one where he loses the money. But I noticed Gilbert's ice cream and Beaver's looks identical but Gilbert said it's Watermelon Pistachio. There are no nuts in that and it looks like vanilla. LOL

As funny as it was, I just cannot picture lovable Whitey being the bad guy. Gilbert yes, Richard maybe, Whitey no. (Was Richard a regular by then?)

I wonder if it was a case of the other kids not being available.

No idea why it was skipped.

Richard Correll (Rickover) started late in season 3, so he had started by then.
Maybe it was a question of availability.

I actually remember seeing IN The Soup 1961 on the 1st Run !
I was 5 years old living in Worcester MA and my entire family watched it !
I was Thrilled to the Bone !
That episode is the only one I remember - from 1st runs !!!

Not everyone would know it by the title, but if you ask many people, do you remember when Beaver climbed the billboard and fell in the soup bowl? most would probably remember it.

They also skipped a few episodes in season 2 during this cycle--we'll probably never know why they do this.

I remember when TV Land ran Beaver, they liked to skip some episodes also. One in particular was the practical joke episode near the end of the series.

Maybe METV doesn't have the full series/catalog. I can't imagine a network deeming episodes are too controversial; especially since Beaver appears to act dumber as he grows older.

LOL I would guess the people at MeTV in the programing booth are just not good at doing their job ... I find their web site LAME as well

And their Overall programming BITES:
4 MASH in a row is a wasted time slot to me
Carol Burnett descriptions are for the 1 hour show yet it runs just 30 minutes
Just 1 Happy Days & Laverne & Shirley a week
Just 2 Dick Van Dyke a week

I miss Mary Tyler Moore

Gilligans Island is so popular -why not one 1 time a day ?

What Happened to TV Land ? pretty bad line up (more like the Seinfeld Network) lol
I also watch IFC = Raymond & Nigh Court & Sanford & 3's Company ....
and FeTV too

I stream my preferred sitcoms because it's darn convenient even though I have purchased many DVD TV sets. However, I am at the mercy that a platform will suddenly drop or selectively limit which episodes a viewer can watch. For example, Paramount has selective episodes of Brady Bunch and I Love Lucy.

I stream LITB on the Roku Channel. Limited commercials and all eps are available

They have all the episodes, since they've aired this episode many times.

MeTV also skipped the episode where Beaver thinks an old lady is a witch. Now that I think about it, they mysteriously skipped some Beverly Hillbillies episodes toward the end of the series.

I rewatched the episode. Could someone be offended that Beaver walks on the woman's arm? Maybe it's the attitude of Ward and June that there's some crackpot kid trapped in a bowl of soup? Or maybe the decision to deal with Beaver the following day and permitting Beaver to spend the night as previously agreed upon.

I don't know. People are weird and complain about everything nowadays.
