Which did you like? Choices:1)NBC's "What's This Song?"(NBC 1963-1964) 2)"How's Your Mother-in-Law?"(ABC,1967-1968- A few years ago when PBS did the "Pioneers of Television"special on Game Shows with Betty White,Wink Martindale, producer Bob Stewart,Tom Kennedy,Monty Hall, the late Merv Griffin, and the late Jack Narz,Wink Martindale said that not even HE knew what "How's Your Mother-in-Law?"was about),3)NBC's "Words and Music"(1970-1971)4-CBS' "Gambit"(1972-1974)5-NBC's short-lived "Las Vegas Gambit"from 1980 or 6)"Debt"?I liked 4 and 6 .Never saw any of the others. Which did you like?Feel free to post.

I liked Gambit. It was a very simple game that had plenty of drama. I also remember the Gambit Board that had a diverse range of prizes as well as an opportunity to play on some shows Beat the House.

I've only known about Wink Martindale's Game Show Career when he did the show "Trivial Pursuit".

I liked Gambit. Wink, Elaine Stewart [co-hostess] and Kenny Williams [announcer] made a great team.

You left out a few shows hosted by the Winker. For one, TIC TAC DOUGH, which I think is probably the show he is MOST remembered for, even more than Gambit. After Dough, I would say Gambit and Debt are my favorite Wink Martindale shows. Other shows Wink hosted include:
Can You Top This? Headline Chasers High Rollers ('88 - '89 syndie, Alex Trebek was busy) The Last Word Trivial Pursuit Boggle Instant Recall (on GSN, briefly in 2010 - VERY briefly) I probably missed a couple, but there you go. |
