Mary Poppins Untold Story Airing Tonight on ABC

In celebration of its 60th anniversary, ABC is airing the untold story of Mary Poppins tonight from 9-11 eastern time as a special edition of 20/20. It will have rarely seen footage and stories from living cast members. Then tomorrow ABC is airing the Mary Poppins movie from 8-11.

Mary Poppins is one of my favorite movies and I don't know why I love it but it's such a wonderful story and when you see it you will be swept away each time. Julie Andrews was perfectly cast as Mary Poppins so well and it's easy to see why Mary Poppins is a classic movie for all ages to enjoy because it's not just a movie itself but a marvelous adventure. How did P.L. Travers get the idea for Disney to make Mary Poppins into a movie. And I also heard that there is an entire series of Mary Poppins books by P.L. Travers as well? And I wonder why Disney didn't create more movies based on the other Mary Poppins books as well?

P.L. Travers was slammed hard in last night's special, no one seemed to like her. It was definitely NOT her idea to make Mary Poppins a movie. Walt Disney finally got his way after she said no a few times earlier. Based on that even with the movie's success, Walt probably didn't want to deal with her about future books to movies.
