Sad Singers Acting Badly...

By now, most of us have seen the massive crater casued by The gigantic bomb that is "Swept Away," Madonna's upteenth attempt to prove to the world that she can act. What will it take for her to realize that she should stick to music?
What about budding thespians Mariah "Glitter" Carey and Brittany "Crossraods" Spears? Should they settle for the Grammy Awards, and forget the Oscar?

I've read somewhere that every movie star wants to be a singing star and vice versa. That seems to be the case regardless of how big a bomb either is at the other. Madonna, to her credit, did well with Desperately Seeking Susan and won the Golden Globe for Evita (neither of which was my cup of tea, but ok).
We'd probably all be horrified to find out how much money Glitter and Crossroads made from the babysitting money of 12 year old girls around the country. Lest we forget the horror that was Spice World.
On the other side of the coin we have Keneau Reeves, Russell Crowe and several others touring with their bands. At least Glitter and the like are good for a laugh, whether or not it's intended.

Oh, I've heard many negative reviews on Madonna's new flick. Her best were Desperately Seeking Susan and Who's that Girl.

I don't think every singer is cursed who tries to get in the movies. I just think that they have really poor choices in scripts. I think some singers are so psyched to get into film that they will jump at any movie who wants them. Let's remember these performers don't have the stroke in Hollywood that they do in the music world. I think the exception might be Jennifer Lopez. Then again what was the last movie she did well in?

Her last good movie was "Out Of Sight." Which was made before she decided to become "J-Lo" the singer...
She really needs to start reading the scripts before she agrees to be in the movie.

Lopez will be in Kevin Smith's new movie "Jersey Girl" and I'm sure that will be a good flick.
It's a comedy-drama more like his Chasing Amy(excellent movie) than Clerks (which was hysterical).

I'm not a fan of Jennifer Lopez but I am of Smith and I feel she is getting a gift by having the chance to be in a well written movie.

It's an awful trend that will get worse as the singers become less talented(Crossroads, Angel Eyes). In fairness to Madonna, Guy Ritchie stinks as a director. Anyone that puts an act of animal cruelty (Snatch) in their movies should be boycotted.
Now they're putting that trash J-Lo in another movie. On behalf of NJ, no thanks. What part of NJ is she supposed to be from, Newark, Jersey City, Irvington, or Camden?

This weekend the film "Wisegirls" premieres on Cinemax.

Never heard of this movie? It stars Mariah "Glitter" Carey and former talented actress Mira Sorvino.

They say this film is so friggin horrible they didn't even bother to release it in the theaters!

Strike two, Mariah...

the only way Glitter got any people to go to is because it was relesaed around 9/11 and it was a stressful time and people needed something to laugh out loud at...im serious...

J-Lo isnt bad as an actress...and Britney Spears hmmm Crossroads was good, and corney and I would have gone to see it even if she was not in this

Yeah I know I just saw that on my DirecTV guide. It was made in 2002 for crying out loud! I've heard of direct to video but direct to cable has got to be even worse. What the hell happened to the Academy Award winning Mira Sorvino? Who did she piss off?

It just goes to show you, that "one hit wonder" is a phrase not limited to music...

The NY Daily News gave it 0 stars! I think Will Smith is the only musical performer who made a successful transition to film.

I loved Mira in the Romy and Michelle movie.

Gotta agree. I never thought about Will Smith. Yeah, I would say he is the only one that made a successful transition.

Okay, I have to say this. It's really making my head hurt to keep it in. It's about Jennifer Lopez. Okay, I have to admit she was good in 'Selena'. However, if I hear her say one more time "I'm just a girl from the Bronx", I'm gonna scream. I think she mentions that in just about every interview I've seen her do. ARGH! I feel so much better.
