Going to color - yes, increased production costs would have been a consideration, but also ABC was doing very little in color in late 1962, LITB's final season, and no network was in full primetime color then--that wouldn't occur until the 1966/67 season.

So it was very unlikely either the network or the show would have footed the bill to do that. No ABC show (other than animated) that started in black and white made the switch to color until the 1965/66 season.

About a few of the other bloopers--who'd notice these?:

--The Cleaver car license plate blooper in the car attendants episode--very few people in the original run would notice, particularly since the shot was so short.

--The record player gag error in the party spoiler episode. This involved a plug for the record player that would cut and restore power. Unrealistically, the music cut in at full speed, where a record's player's audio would in reality slowly come back up to speed when the power came back. I'd bet that generated some comments in a few living rooms back in the day.

There were other continuity errors in the show that Connelly and/or Mosher, or someone, probably should have caught. I think as time went on they became increasingly uninvolved in such things; therefore, they went unnoticed.

Loved this informative video BUT every 60 seconds(!) was a an ad that just kept repeating itself throughout the 21 minute run-time! Frustrating and ridiculous.

You are so correct. In the early 60's only NBC was showing COLOR episodes in primetime; Disney, Bonanza come to mind.

My mom paid $399 in 1964 for our New Zenith Color Console tv ! I think it was 23" +- (?) and we were the 1st on the street. It had a little swing open door on the front bottom that had 3 Color Knobs and setting the color was no easy feat ! And Yes my friends all came to watch Bonanza & Disney on Sunday Nights - even the Disney multi color peacock seemed cool ! It also had a Space Command remote that used a CLICK noise to change the settings ! Hence thats where the term CLICKER came from !
