Was dancing school a thing in the 50s-60s? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Season 7 E 25
Chip is dancing and he said he had three years of lessons.

Beaver and Wally had to go to dancing school as well.

I don't know of anybody who went to dancing school unless they wanted Ballet or modern. Like in the Brady Bunch.

My elementary school had dancing lessons for all the 5th graders. I believe we studied for about 2 months.

I grew up in small town in south New Jersey. I never heard of a dancing school back then (in the 1960s). Maybe it depends on the area?
