Tammy Faye Broadway Show
If I was going to write a Broadway musical, I can't imagine even thinking for one second writing it about Tammy Faye Bakker.
For those of you who don't know, Jim Baker is a fake TV evangelist who scammed people out of their money so he could live a rich lifestyle. His wife, named Tammy Faye Bakker, was a cartoonish character who did the show with him. She had gobs of makeup on and was repulsive to look at. In the late 1980's, they got into a huge scandal where Jim Bakker's affairs were exposed, which caused all their extravagances to be exposed. Of course the media, which is anti religion to begin with, loved every minute of it. For some reason, Elton John wrote a musical about Tammy Bakker. Even more amazingly, it was evidently a hit in London. It opened on Broadway a few days ago and has already announced it is closing.
