Back in the mid and early 80's there was a fad of bringing cancelled series to syndication. Now you don't see it near as much, that is series axed by the networks making new shows again. I was thinking of some of the shows that were prolonged by what was one of the best fads televison ever had. Since the more shows a sitcom makes the better the syndication chances are, these shows might have never been seen if they had not had extra life.

Mama's Family- Almost 70 more shows
Charles in Charge--Four more entire seasons
Punky Brewster--Two more seasons
Silver Spoons 1 more season

I can almost bet that CIC would never have been sold with only 21 shows made and would be totally off the air today, probably the rest as well.

That is very true. I think Mama's Family was so much better in syndication than when it was on NBC. Charles in Charge was the same. I wish that they would show more comedies in syndication than those darn action shows that get cancelled so often. Wasn't Too Close for Comfort in syndication for a while under the name Ted Knight Show? I am not sure I think I read it somewhere.

Yes it was, but only for a season. Webster was another series that went into syndication.
