Actors that ruined the most series - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I was wondering what you guys thought was the actor that ruined the most series they were on? I know Ted Mcginley is right up with sinking the love boat, ruining the happy days, and sopping up what was left of married with children, but who else? I think I would have to say close is Gregory Sierra. He ruined SOAP, with awful El Puerco, was bad on Sanford and Son as Julio, and was not funny on Barny Miller either. Do these characters ruin the shows themselves or just have the bad luck to come into a series that was fading anyway, jumping on a sinking ship so to speak.

Many feel Roseanne ruined her sitcom during the last season by making the family win the lottery and by her writing some of the episodes from the last season. When she isn't a good sitcom writer.

I agree and so do most people who liked Roseanne. It was losing steam before that but that last season was just unwatchable!

For this post, if you can't think of a particular actor that hurt a series, think of a specific plotline that hurt it like w/g fanatic did Roseanne.

I think the Queen of actresses who ruins sitcoms is Allison LaPlaca. She starred in Duets, Open House, The Jackie Thomas Show, Tom and The John Larroquette Show.She also had a brief run on Friends as Rachel's boss. The reason she didn't curse that show is because the writers killed off her character.

It's not fair becuz he was just a kid, but the first thing that popped into my head when I read the question was the kid who played Cousin Oliver on the final season of "The Brady Bunch", Robbie Rist. He also ended up playing Ted and Georgette's son on MTM--of course he didn't ruin that show, but he always seemed so annoying to me.

I love Roseannes last season it was funny. I don't think she ruined her show at all imo.

I thought the last season of Roseanne was good. But many viewers felt the good humor the show had was gone. That was why it was nearly cancelled in its last season. In the middle of the last season that is. But I personally felt it was an ok season.

Really? I wanted Rich and Dana to get together.They were complete opposites.Still surprised there was no "Rich & Dana" show!

Okay, I've got a question. This is a bit off topic for this thread, but I'm wondering about this Jason Marsden guy. I used to watch Step by Step a long time ago. I think I stopped watching before Jason came in the show. What is it about him that destroyed the show? Did his acting suck? Was the character badly done? The reason I'm asking is because Jason will be in the Batman reunion movie, so if his acting sucks in general I can be prepared for his bad portrayal of Burt Ward. jw
